I just completed printing ALL of the documentation that is delivered with the PMDG 737-NGX. This includes the Introduction & Use, Tutorial One, Quick Reference Handbook, The Flight Crew Training Manual, and both Volumes of the Flight Crew Operations Manual. I thought I would save some money. Here are my thoughts and conclusions on this massive project. MY COSTS: Paper- I bought a case of copy paper from Office Depot on sale for $30.00. I used 7 packs of 10 so $21 total. Ink- My computer has refillable ink cartridges and I buy bulk ink. Estimated $20.00 on ink. Binders- 6 four inch binders @ $12 each. 2 three inch binders @ $7 each, so $86.00 on binders. Chapter Dividers- $25 Time- Esoteric estimation: 40 hours actual. While the printer was doing it's thing, I was collating, punching and installing previous print runs (50 pages to each print run). Made the chapter dividers, reloaded ink, made the exterior binder pages, etc. I already had the printer and ink, the paper slicer, and three hole punch. If you don't have these items, add another $35.00 to the price tag. I could have paid one of my grandkids to do this, and that would have been another $100. If your printer doesn't have refillable ink cartridges, you could add another $40.00 in ink costs. My fingers hurt, my eyes are going buggy, I broke my office chair rolling constantly from the printer to the computer and now my printer makes strange noises and emits a faint burning smell. Conclusion: If anyone wants me to do this for them, the cost is $2500. I really should have bought this: http://www.precision...3&idcategory=20

Hello, all pilots, real and virtual ones alike, hope you all are flying high and proud! First time poster here. Short introduction, 43 year old, have always been fascinated by flight growing up with an airbase nearby and been watching the Hueys and F-5's, 412's and F-16's and twisting my neck when I look up to stare at the old DC-3 flying over town. Been a flight sim nutter since my early teens, starting with a Commodore 64 and Solo Flight. Anyway, real life kicked in the doors and time became precious so I haven't been a serious simmer for years and years and now with studies (digital electronics engineering), there's very little time BUT: Thought oh what the heck and got me a Saitek X-52 Pro/pedals combo and dug out some vintage sims and that was it, the bug bit again. My main hobby is remote controlled helicopters and planes (in that order and dreaming of that very large scale) but lately studies, weather and wallet are effectively grounding my models so that might explain the sudden idea of getting that controller. Also have got FSX and I am looking forward to getting some sim time again when time allows. As a student, freeware is the way to go for me but hopefully the payware add-ons will be available when I'm through studies. I am drooling over that Dodosim 206 and the Alouette II pack. One day... Until then, the Cessna is a joy to fly. So, with that out of the way: Are there any good free add-ons for helicopters in FSX to make them more realistic? I love helis but in all honesty I don't care much for the FSX flight model for the helis and would absolutely love to see some improvements. I am aware of the HTR pack but it appears that requires a payware program to work with the sim and payware will have to wait. Then one last thing: My X-52 Pro has this MFD and I know this is a problem older than dirt but any idea how to get it to work with FSX on a Win 8.1 laptop? The drivers are the latest and I understand those cause problems so I tried to roll back to the 6xxxx version only to find I couldn't! The 7xxxxx version was still active after uninstalling both files and reg keys and now I'm totally clueless as to what else I could try. So then, hope to learn more about this place and you guys, not to mention learn more about virtual aviation! (So much for a short introduction, eh) Regards, Alou2 a.k.a Knut

Oh well, doesn't really matter as I'm sure you understand what I'm saying! New member here who just wants to introduce myself and ask a question! Ready? Here goes! As I said, I'm a new member here at AVSIM and I'd just like to introduce myself. Name's Daniel but you can call me Imrahil as well (the username was taken from The Lord of the Rings). I'm an 18-year old guy from Sweden with a love for flight simulation. I've always loved flying... at least for as long as I can remember. I've flown exactly 38 times in my life and been to 22 countries so far. Best parts are of course Take-off, descent and landing but even just being up in the air is a thrill for me. I've been flying in FSX for... I think it's 7 years now. Got the simulator as a birthday present when I turned 11 and I've been in love with it ever since. At first, I wasn't really playing seriously. Didn't understand much of it as I were pretty bad at speaking, writing or understanding english (more so than most other swedish 11-year olds but when I began attending 6th grade, I somehow fell in love with the language and now I LOVE it). It was when I began understanding the instructions that I got more serious but it wasn't until two or three years ago that I got REALLY serious about it. Now I ALMOST exclusively try to be as accurate when playing as possible with the knowledge I have. The commercial aircraft that I fly the most is probably either the Project Airbus A380-800 or the Project Open Sky Boeing B777-300ER. When it comes to military aircrafts, it's by far Dino Cattaneo's F-14D Super Tomcat but I also enjoy the recently released version of the IRIS A-10 Thunderbolt II, the VRS Superbug F/A-18E Super Hornet and the F-35 (also by Dino Cattaneo). Do you know what all the military aircraft I mentioned have in common? They're all VRS TacPack-compatible in FSX which is an add-on I really enjoy using. Anyway, FSX isn't the only Flightsim I use. I also use, although very rarely, X-Plane 10 and I'm considering getting my hands on the new PREPAR3D V2 by Lockheed Martin. Lets move on: Now, I have a single questi... System has crashed. Please reboot. System shutting down... System rebooting... System initiating System has been successfully rebooted. Signing in... Signed in. Please type your commands in the space below. God, I hate it when it does that! Now where was I? Right! I was going to ask a question! It's a fairly simple one that I'm sure you'll be able to answer. Here it is: If I was going to post a question about searching for people who'd like to fly with me in MP in FSX, where would I post this? In the MP-section of the forums? Or do I need to have an event PLANNED (I don't want to plan anything before I know if someone is interested) already? Would be grateful for some help here! I think that's all I wanted to say and ask! Thank you for reading this and if you have some kind of question about me or something I said, feel free to send me a message! This is Daniel AKA Imrahil, signing out. Signing out... Signed out. System closing programs... System shutting down... System has been shut down.

Hello everyone, fellow avgeek and new flight simmer here. I often end up lurking here when I've got questions about LNM. I use it a lot and really appreciate the hard work, dedication and passion from the LNM contributors. My interests include flight planning, MSFS scenery creation, and home cockpit building. I've dreamed of having a machine capable of FS'ing for a while, but once MSFS2020 was released I decided it was about time I made it happen. So far I've been simming for 9 months. I'm hoping to have a basic cockpit setup that I will start out with a yoke, a box with about 8-10 switches and a mix/thr/prop with carb heat in the coming months. I fly GA VFR mostly and can't get enough of the Comanche by A2A, although recently i've been coming back to GotFriends Wilga! Thanks!
