DA42 "authentic audio effects" - a question
http://steamcommunity.com/games/dovetailgamesflightschool/announcements/detail/890967051406171440 This announcement mentions "authentic audio effects". From what I hear / see - they are almost the same as audio files for Alabeo DA42 (same sounds, sometimes different levels). And I know that Alabeo DA42 reuses some files that were created earlier (for example some files are shared with their Pawnee). Alabeo also uses some files marked "Flight Simulator 2000" and created in 1999. The metadata (including the timestamp) is stripped from DTG files but otherwise, the sound is the same. So my question is - how the sound recorded in 1999 is authentic for a plane that first flew in 2002? And I think I missed something when I read this Q&A: http://www.avsim.com/topic/483642-ask-dovetail-games-about-dtg-flight-school-flight-simulator/page-35 I see that the 3d model is different ( ), but other parts look quite the same as in Alabeo's DA42 (aircraft.cfg, air file, sounds).

How to file Vatsim flight plan - a tutorial

vasFMC issue
Go to Navigraph website and download vasFMC package using Manual Install page: https://www.navigraph.com/FmsDataManualInstall.aspx use: vasFMC Flight Management (not the native version) Then install this package into your vasFMC folder (your main vasfmc folder should be in the installation path). Your new navdata will appear in \navdata folder.

I would suggest putting additional waypoints in your flight plan. You don't want to rely on weather data from a point that is hundreds miles away

It is not possible to check winds at cruise altitude in FSX. To do that you would need a good weather engine (for example Active Sky Next). In ASN you can check weather forecast for your flight plan (you can import FSX flight plan to ASN to get the weather forecast). It will also give you your Ground Speed forecast. Alternatively - with ASN you can check look at Skyvector.com and check wind on your altitude (show Wind Barbs option in Layers menu). Correctly identifying waypoint directions?
D8 means DME 8 miles. It is not a waypoint of this approach. You need to set your Nav radio to ILS frequency and observe the distance readout. And you also should have a general knowledge about there you are. Both D8 waypoints that you can choose from are clearly very far from Switzerland - you do not need any coordinates on this chart to guess that neither will fit (as they are both on the Western hemisphere).

Struggling to find out why - A2A & Carenado pull hard right
It's a correct in Cessna 172 and Cherokee - you should use rudder to compensate for P-factor - please read Wikipedia page describing this effect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-factor In case of AccuSim A2A planes - changing P-factor settings in FSX may not alter aircraft's behavior (P-factor may be simulated outside of FSX). As louisdecoolste said - it should not be an issue in Skymaster - you should check your controls in a default jet - if you do not see the same tendency - than the controls are fine.

I am sorry that I offended you. Unfortunately - that is what I feel as the user of Skyvector - U.S. Airspace is the only one that is kept up to date at every lever. Outside the U.S. you can find navaids that were decommissioned years ago. Also - outside the U.S. the airport information is limited. So if you want to deny that Skyvector is most useful for people who fly in U.S. - be my guest... As to the AirNav - I shared the tools and websites that I use. I had no intention of making a comprehensive guide to all sources available. Such a guide would take ten thousand words (or 20, or 30...) - that would kill the idea of providing a short and useful guide for flight sim enthusiasts.

Waypoints format for flightplan

For approaches you usually do not need to enter waypoints if you have an updated navigation database - just select the approach you intend to fly. 3. How exactly do you enter the waypoints? Which format did you use?

If you need charts - just look around on the internet - you do not need to buy charts for most countries - they are legally available on official websites - in national AIP. For Europe - you can look here: http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/public/pu/login.do Registration is free and you get access to Eurocontrol's charts for all European countries. If you are looking for AIPs of other countries - look at Eurocontrol's list: http://www.eurocontrol.int/articles/ais-online Skyvector.com is all you need in terms of enroute charts although it's a little simplified. In terms of using your maps - no software will replace the ability to read maps - you need to learn how to use SID, STAR and approach charts no matter if you use (or do not use) PFPX or similar software.

Localizer deviation and other issues
The values are close but not correct - they are 1degree off. Current ILS course is 355. There is another solution. Edit ILS. You will get 5 degree offset but it should not be that hard to correct (there are ILS approaches with such an offset. The other solution is to edit your database so that it has the same ILS location and course as in your scenery. You may need to alter some waypoints too. For me it all requires too much attention. I would just set the ILS course manually and correct the route in HDG mode when intercepting ILS. Sorry - I do not have 737 yet so I can not tell you how to do it - but you can check it in your manual.

Localizer deviation and other issues
LTBA does not have runways 36L/R anymore - it has 35L/R. So your Navigraph database is correct and your scenery is outdated. That does not tell whether the database is outdated or not (it may be outdated but newer than your scenery - you should know that if you have updated it. First - when in doubt - consult current charts for the airport. You can find Turkish charts at http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/publicuser/public/pu/login.do (registration is required - it's free). They clearly show 35L and 35R approached. Second - 35 ILS course is currently 355. It was 354 back in 2008. Strangely - it is coded as 001 in default FSX. I have no idea which course your scenery uses but if it is close to 001 - that is why you are out of ILS signal. Third - there may be an issue with magnetic variation of your FSX or your scenery. FSX magnetic variation for Istanul is 3.3E. The current mag var in this region is 4.7E. I described magnetic variation problems and fixes here: http://c-aviation.net/fsx-fix/magnetic-variation-in-fsx-problems-and-solutions/ What you should do: 1. Check your ILS course on FSX map - it it is far from 355 - you need a different scenery or you need to edit it. 2. If (or when) your ILS is correct and you still experience problems - update your mag.var. 3. If the problem persists - update ILS magnetic variation using aero.sors.fr tool. It may be a good idea to look for a better scenery.
