May 18, 200323 yr hi guys!does anybody know if the 737 will have a spoiler and flap wind sound?!thanxsam
May 18, 200323 yr Hey, They did have one in their B752 for Fly!II, don't see why not on the 737. They did say that they didn't want to overload the soudn buffer of FS2002/4 - so let's see what happens -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://www.jet-precision.com/MyTravel.jpg
May 18, 200323 yr As of right now, the inflight speedbrake sounds are in. We will let you know if they stay in or have to be sacrificed.
May 19, 200323 yr would u even hear the spoiler sound over the roar of the thrust reversers?? J Stevens CYOW
May 19, 200323 yr I guess you would hear them when using them in-flight i.e. slowing the aircraft down when you misscalculated the decent. ;-)Regards Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
May 19, 200323 yr hi!"would u even hear the spoiler sound over the roar of the thrust reversers?? " well, yes you can hear them ,even when the reversers are activated! BUT: Have you ever heard of landing without reversers?Often you land with only the spoilers activated, and then they are very loud! It would be great if PMDG does all the soundwishes....thanxsamwww.Airberlin.com
May 19, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi SamI can honestly say I've never been on a large transport jet that didn't use reverse thrust on the landing (unless the reversers were inop). I also don't recall any loud noise associated with the spoilers deploying? Can you get more specific on what you are talking about?RegardsPaul Gollnick:-coolTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Group[www.precisionmanuals.com] Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
May 19, 200323 yr same here- I have flown many, many times and never once landed without using thrust reversers for the inital portion of the landing at the very least.
May 19, 200323 yr >reversers were inop). I also don't recall any loud noise>associated with the spoilers deploying? one things that product should *not* have are exaggerated noises that do not exist in real cockpit. In fact cockpit is a fairly quite place and many sounds 'stay behind'. For example ERJ-145 has such a quiet cockpit pilots can hardly hear engines start up on the ground. On the other hand all these fan, air conditioning, avionics cooling sounds are often there and hardly anybody cares to simulate them. I bet if you sat on the wing you could hear those air brakes very well ... but then you would not sit there for too long ;-)Michael J.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg Michael J.
May 19, 200323 yr I second that, Michael J. The key is finding the right balance between an inadequate sound set and an over-exaggerated sound set. A lot of panels out there have a lot of sounds that shouldn't be simulated while lacking a lot of sounds that should be simulated. The air conditioning sounds, avionics and cooling sounds are usually overlooked. And to go back to the topic, the sound of the airframe trembling with spoiler deploy is a nice touch but I think a more important spoiler sound that should be present is the sound of the auto spoiler-deploy mechanism that is heard at the moment of touchdown. To add to that are some of the sounds that I would love to see,- Sound of the airframe and onboard objects trembling and shaking when the aircraft is moving on the ground.- Sound of passengers talking and moving about in the cabin. Afterall, the cockpit and the cabin, which holds about 100 or so people, are only seperated by a single cockpit door and during a flight, you would expect the passengers and cabin crew to converse with one another.- Realistic sounds of different switches in the cockpit as opposed to just a single generic and artificial 'click' sound for every single switch and knob in the cockpit. E.g., a flick of the landing light switch should sound *different* from a key-press on the FMC.- And anything else which should be heard in a cockpit...I could go on and on but I'm sure PMDG knows what they're doing. I just thought it'd be interesting to point out that examples of above-average sounds in a panel are the Dreamfleet 737 and Richard Probst's 727 panel. The sounds that Probst put in his 727 panel is a good benchmark for freeware and payware developers alike...Thomas K
May 19, 200323 yr Hi guysIs it possible/easy to add a sound for the speedbrakes on other aircraft, I specifically have PIC767 in mind. Also, I fly quite regularly and have been on many flights where reverse thrust has not been used. It still however makes quite a noisy sound when just the speedbrakes are used to slow it down on the tarmac. Thanks
May 20, 200323 yr hi all you guys!well, this will become a great discussion!1. There are many landings without Reversers (this is a fact)--fly from the canary islands to berlin, and you will land without reversers if the weather doesn't make it necesary(Fuel calculating and weight)2. The spoiler sounds and of course the flap sounds are definitly "hearable"!3. The decision if the reversers will be used is still the pilots, flightsimmers and my :) (Maintenance Air Berlin) !4. Yes, some of you are right, the cooling equips are much louder on ground and they were overlooked in many products! And we are often AOG! So , the APU,Cooling and Air Con sounds should be louder and better filtered!5. I work on the 737NG many times a week! I know what i'm talking about!thanxsamwww.Airberlin.com
