July 8, 200322 yr PhilAgree 100%And these replies to paying customers does`nt help one bit."Rich, you sir need to give it a rest, does that come through without fault?"Now in my book that is a reply that lacks etiquette.I thought Rich`s comments/questions were well thought out and not in the least bit offensive and did not deserve the abuse.I too have the same questions But with the attitudes that are displayed to concerned customer`s I doubt they will be forthcoming. What I do expect to hear are the same tired replies that it`s a 40 dollar sim or comparisons comparing it to real world airplanes/cars etc.The bottom line is that in my opinion this software was not in a finished state when released which seems to have become the norm in payware addons.
July 8, 200322 yr Exactly my point!!! It's funny... I recall a response by one of the folks from PMDG to one of the early message threads regarding calculation of V-speeds. Seems that many folks (myself included) were experiencing rotation speeds (Vr) well in excess of the FMC-computed speed. One purchaser made an innocent comment that perhaps there was a problem with either the flight model or the FMC-computed speeds and his reward was a smarmy response from some PMDG designer asking if "he was willing to wager" if the program-generated calculation wasn't dead-on accurate based on some Boeing manual.I recall the story that if one person calls you a horse, you laugh. If one-hundred people call you a horse, you better go out and buy a saddle!!Flightsim Phil
July 8, 200322 yr You guys need to ease off Fred and the other testers a little. I have the stupid 737 manual and didn
July 8, 200322 yr Hi"With over 200 complex systems in this jet (per Boeings manual), they got 190 of them right (the half-full / half-empty theory)."It` a shame the ten happen to be the most important systems.
July 8, 200322 yr Randy J. Smith wow you comment his way of criticizing your support, and yet you still don't answer or post what he begs of you to post???Fred Clausen stated that for some reason, which he can't write here he didn't experience the AWFUL loss of FPS in the VC, now why can't you explain what's going on??And Fred then why can't YOU understand why we might speculate on your skills, completely unjustified, but still if you didn't report one single thing of the ones we are complaining about...About the manuals Flemming!I for one LOVES a good manual, I always read before doing my first flight, I visit the cockpit play around with some of the stuff I have just read about, and then read some more, like you would IN REAL LIFE...Anyways my way of learning a new jet, but please don't generalize YOUR manual habits...Also PM or Precision Manuals is a good
July 8, 200322 yr >Fred Clausen stated that for some reason, which he can't write>here he didn't experience the AWFUL loss of FPS in the VC, now>why can't you explain what's going on??Have you ever heard of a document called an NDA(non disclosure agreement)? You honestly think that I don't want to comment?>And Fred then why can't YOU understand why we might speculate>on your skills, completely unjustified, but still if you>didn't report one single thing of the ones we are complaining>about...I take issue when you challenge the skills of the beta testers because you have no idea how we tested, and for how long. I personally spent over 60 hours in the NG cockpit beta testing. Now tell me that I didn't do my part? I hate giving answers like 'I cannot comment because of legalities.' It seems like a cop out. But it isn't, at least not in this case. :(
July 8, 200322 yr BTW, I forgot to add -- I don't blame you for speculating on our skills :) Just rest assured that we worked hard to make this plane bug free for you :D
July 8, 200322 yr I would just like to see a manual with a tutorial flight to get started. Even the beginners intro tutorial and fmc tutorial are not correct!! What hope do we have. Even the Livereys are bugged!Kev
July 8, 200322 yr WOW!! Is it "Bash-A-Beta-Tester" week again already? Geez these holidays have a way of sneaking up on you.... :-)Oh well, gotta run... there are are a few beta testers on the Microsft Windows ME team I'd like to speak with while the season is open...
July 8, 200322 yr LOL. Good point. Hey, I was trying to be optimistic.Yes, 1 of the 10 bit me pretty good in a 1/25 mile visibility. I was following the POH on localizer G/S capture and the plane put me in a climb to the glide slope; then a 40 degree dive to try to catch what it blew threw. I had every alarm in the cockpit going off. I was waiting for the Boeing specified auto-disconnect based on bank angle or pitch attitude but that did not occur so I manually uncoupled and recovered about 200 AGL. Needless to say, I went around. :-)...Good Day.http://www.clearedasfiled.com/images/simpics/cirrus.jpgwww.flightfactory-simulations.comHomepage at www.clearedasfiled.com!
July 8, 200322 yr > Needless to say, I went around. :-)why not, the passengercomfort was lost anyway :-hah read you... Migh
July 8, 200322 yr Do you think they noticed the trees? I know I did as they filled my windscreen with a mere 1/25 mile visibility. I would bet those on the ground would have made a few phone calls on that one.:-lol...Good Day.http://www.clearedasfiled.com/images/simpics/cirrus.jpgwww.flightfactory-simulations.comHomepage at www.clearedasfiled.com!
July 8, 200322 yr As another tester who put 60+ hours into testing this product, I concur with Fred's comments. I dedicated this kind of time for testing because I believe in PMDG as a company and because this product (including the problems) has provided me hours of enjoyment. As was stated earlier in this post, there are many functions that are working in the model. I have flown many flights without any problems occurring. That being said, the product does have issues. PMDG has stated that they are committed to solving the issues. This situation is what it is. As consumers we have choices. We can either trust that PMDG is going to solve the issues or we can request a refund. Great thing about this economic model is that we all have an opportunity to vote with our wallets. The choice is ours. Finally, considering the situation is where it is now, how would you suggest PMDG move forward from here? They have acknowledged the product has issues. They have stated they will work hard and are committed to resolve these issues. If you are not satisfied with the product they will provide a refund. What else should they be doing? This is a complex product and for $40 provides some interesting features and experiences. Either you agree with this premise or you don't. If not that George Morris
July 8, 200322 yr >As was stated earlier in this post, there>are many functions that are working in the model. I have>flown many flights without any problems occurring. Hi George, where do you know about these many functions, do you have a manual :-bigangel ok i know, stopping this type of humor.real question is: could you please post your PC Specs, so i could compare the 'big' differences with my System?read you...Migh
July 8, 200322 yr Hi Migh,Actually I really appreciate the humor! As long as it is intended to be only humorous ;-) >where do you know about these many functions, do you have a manual Mostly experience. I own a few other Boeing add-on products and I have purchased a few books. As has been mentioned, there are other real-world NG people participating in the test and they were also helpful.>Could you please post your PC Specs, so i could compare the 'big' differences with my System?AMD 2700+ (started w/2400+ and no I didn't upgrade because of the NG), 512MB RAM, Win XP home, 40GB HD. Geforce 4 Ti4800, SB Live! Gamer. Not at home so I can't give you driver revs, but if this is important let me know and I will post another message.George George Morris
