May 18, 200422 yr Hi all,Any advice here would be VERY appreciated!!!I've been using the NG for a few days and I've been immersed into this whole new level of realism. But, the built-in ATC just cannot keep up anymore so I decided to use VATSIM.I followed Vatsim's Tutorial 103 to a T but I fear that's where I messed up. Now when I go to load any of the NG's either the FS crashes with app name listed pmdg_737ng_main_gau.Seeing as following the Vatsim tutorial had me edit the fs9.cfg file, I'm hoping there is something that needs to be re-edited?I see a lot of you guys are using VATSIM so I'm hoping you will know what it is I'm dealing with. Thanks in advanceChuck Nevin
May 18, 200422 yr Chuck,I hate to be so drastic, but you might cure your problem by uninstalling the NGs and reinstalling. Use the remover tool from the PMDG website to uninstall the NG.Hope to see you flying out of KPHX/ZAB airspace....I am the crazy guy on PHX_V_APP all of the time ;)
May 18, 200422 yr oh the crazy guy on phx app? A long time ago (many many months ago) I flew into kphx with a friend with the pmdg 737 and we were vectored too close on final so I was told to sidestep to a paralell runway so I did, then when I was almost in the flare I was told to sidestep back, I ignored the request because it was way too late to sidestep back. I ended up getting yelled at for landing on the wrong runway. (something about landing on the departure only runway, I dont know lol). Anyway I dont know why I posted this. :-) Andrew
May 18, 200422 yr Andrew,Hehe every controller has there moments. Yesterday I vectored two departing aircraft on the same SID together...they missed one another by .5 nm....thats was embarassing :-shy Its great fun though. I have been at ZAB for a little less than a week and I have honestly no idea how I could have missed getting involved with controlling for this long. I enjoy it, tons of fun :)
May 18, 200422 yr check out on windowsupdate.microsoft.com for the latest windows media player patch.... (just don't ask me why, but it has been reported by a few more so it's worth a try)Bye, Luca Luca Benelli PMDG & WX Radar? read here
May 18, 200422 yr Fred, controlling is a great change. I've moved up to SEA_V_APP now, and I love it, unfortunately, I've not had much time to control lately.
May 18, 200422 yr >Fred, controlling is a great change. I've moved up to>SEA_V_APP now, and I love it, unfortunately, I've not had much>time to control lately.I'll have to take a trip up to SEA sometime and give you some traffic :D
May 18, 200422 yr Hi Chuck,Try renaming your FS9.cfg file to something else and let FS9 create a new one. Concerning connecting to VATSIM using the NG, take a look at the On-line TCAS tutorial on the PMDG website. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/...le=419&iType=19It has basic instructions on how to connect FS9 to VATSIM. May 18, 200422 yr You guys should get your butts up to Boston once in a while too! I'm very close to my approach certification there, which means you'll see me on TWR a lot before 11 PM eastern, and on approach a lot after 11 PM eastern. (11 PM is when peak time ends, and we're allowed to work one position up from the highest position we're certified for.)I agree Fred, I don't know why I waited so long to get into controlling ... it's very fun and challenging. I'm completely addicted.
May 18, 200422 yr While you guys are at it, make sure you visit LAS_V_APP. I love working it and will give you guys (hopefully) some great VATSIM ATC. Eric
May 18, 200422 yr >Sure Fred, Be nice. heheheh. :-sae hehe....don't worry, I will ask for the obscure NDB approach into the little podunk airfield that you forgot was even inside of your class bravo airspace...that you don't have charts for..;)J/k!
May 19, 200422 yr If I can muster up any guts and try Vatsim I would be flying into KLAS a lot. When the PAI VA is up I will be out of KDEN and heading to LAS and ORD a lot. Must stop being scared of messing up online.sorry for keeping it off topic ;)
May 19, 200422 yr >If I can muster up any guts and try Vatsim I would be flying>into KLAS a lot. When the PAI VA is up I will be out of KDEN>and heading to LAS and ORD a lot. >>Must stop being scared of messing up online.Don't be so worried about flying online. We don't make fun of you when you mess up, we help you out. We were newbies flying on VATSIM once, too ;)I suggest you plug into a voice freq with RW and just listen to the traffic. See how pilots word things, how controllers respond. You can get a lot of knowledge of how we do things on VATSIM really quick that way. And when you are ready to fly (WARNING SHAMELESS PLUG AHEAD!!!) fly out of KPHX when I am on PHX_V_APP and you will be just fine :)
May 19, 200422 yr No one should be intimidated about using VATSIM. The controllers are there because they want traffic and will welcome all comers. For a new pilot to VATSIM, putting "Newbie Pilot" in the remarks section of your flight plan will just about guarantee that the controllers will take very good care of you.Just remember the cardinal rule of compliance with ATC instructions...aviate, navigate then communicate.Roger Curtiss
