November 10, 200421 yr Trust me, Tom, Im way ahead of you on that point. In fact it was my restudy of how an aircraft's turbofan engine work and the different malfunctions that may occur on them that brought me to question, even more, the sounds I was hearing from the Pmdg soundset. Everyday on my way to and from school im studying from articles, magazines, and books from my school library on topics ranging from "black hole approaches" to tailstrikes. My only problem is that the information is not getting in my head fast enough, im mean I wish I could down 2-3 books in one day but it doesnt always happen considering all the other stuff I need to be studying. My only wish was for you to answer my question, but I guess I have to run with the ball I already have. Thanks anyway.Gideon
November 10, 200421 yr Whoever can get them to me. I just know a lot of the right people I guess, people send me sound clips all the time, usually in the form of requests (like with the DC-9 passenger sounds, it was a request to add the passenger soundset, and the person requesting had sounds to send that he recorded). Also, I come across clips off the internet often - of course, you must get permission in such a case, and most people are pretty good about it.
November 10, 200421 yr They sound good to me, after flying on a 737-700 twice two weeks ago PMDG did a pretty nice job of re-representing the sounds of the NG.EDIT: It may be also the environment you are listening to the sounds in, if you are using headphones it wont sound like a real aircraft because it will be '2D'. If like me you listen to the sounds with full surround sound and an nice big subwoofer it really starts to sound much more realistic.
November 10, 200421 yr Eric, thanks, however I forgot to ask....What does this mean?.....plz explain.".) I can say the original sounds did not come from a 737NG, but that's an issue that's been resolved anyway (in an excellent manner by PMDG staff)."Gideon.
November 10, 200421 yr Looking through the hot files yesterday list I found a 737NG package, 52866kb! Downloading right now.... I thought that you maybe wanted to give them a try! The name on the file is: 737pkg.zipCheersJohan "Whats VNAV?!?!" Adolfsson
November 10, 200421 yr Absolutely stunning sounds, better than PMDG, even better then the arianedesign sounds.I know that these sounds are as close to the real thing as you're gonna get!!I had to do some modifications though, i personally didn't like the warning sound; "--- Landing gear ---- Landing gear ----" and some other sounds (like the flaps or gear up/down)besides that, man these sounds are REAL, especially in the flight deck / cabin...
November 10, 200421 yr I D/L it too and although it sounds great I have problems setting the right volume for the sounds. What are your volume sound settings in FS?Thanks,Arthur Deelen.

It was the 200 steam gauge model and the Captain let me look around the cockpit after we landed in Montreal. He said they would be retiring this model in about 2 years. Anyway I went up to the forward lavatory twice during the the flight, which is right behind the Pilots bulkhead to hear what the engines sounded like during flight. Pretty darn close to what the PMDG sounds like on my Computer. If there was a differehce, it was very minimal.
November 10, 200421 yr Totally agree! It is a unbelievable piece of work!CheersJohan "Whats VNAV?!?!" Adolfsson
November 11, 200421 yr I also downloaded these yesterday and I really like them. I think sound is such a subjective thing that everyone will have their own definition of "real", plus it also greatly depends on your speaker setup I guess. I would say just go with what you like and be happy, there are many alternatives today (aren't we lucky). :D
