Question to Lefteris regarding Engravity FMC

Recommended Posts

I realize it might be too early to comment on this, but is it reasonable to expect that the Engravity FMC will be supported by your FSX versions as well as the 737V2 for FS9 too?Since it's a lot of money to spend on the FMC, I'd rather have some more info before I do something foolish! :)

Krister-we're already running in-house betas of the Engravity CDU driver on FSX.

>Will the MD11 be made to be compatible with the Engravity>CDU?I'm not sure that makes sense for now. For the time being Engravity does not offer a MD-11 type CDU, which has an entirely different key layout and different labels on them.IF however Engravity puts a MD-11 CDU to the market rest assured that I'd want it to be compatible and therefore tell that to the programmers until they comply ;)Regards,Markus

Markus,of course the labels are totally different but the key layout? If you compare this MD11 shot http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0558275/L/ with this one of an 747 http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1009167/L/ , wouldn't you say that they key layout is exactly the same or am I missing something entirely? Are you perhaps refering to how the data is displayed on the screen? Please correct me if I am wrong, but I pray I am not! :)I know that Engravity has at least considered making different faceplates so that a user with the 737 FMC can put on an 747 overlay.http://www.flyengravity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=392BTW, here is also a SHORT and old discussion regarding the Engravity FMC and the MD11http://www.flyengravity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=359EDITED: Hope posting links to Airliners.net is allowed here!

Who left the keys to Markus' muzzle within reach of him???????:-p(Guys- Markus is one of the best advocates any of you could ever want for this MD-11 project... Treat him nicely- he takes plenty of abuse from the development team....)Markus: You are on my agenda- I promise. I'm crazy busy at the moment- but you are on my agenda. :-)

Krister, you're right of course, key layout is the same, I've must have had another CDU in mind when I compared it to the MD-11.But the labels on them are indeed very different, you'd need a lot of paper to use it with the MD-11.However since the layout is the same Engravity might just do it, new key labels, new colour, that's it. We just have to run over to Engravity and request it... :)Regards,Markus
