OT: PSS Airbus package?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I apologize, I realize this is off-topic, but I respect the opinions of you guys that use 767PIC. I use PC767 also, and I think it's tremendous.Having said that, I'm curious what opinion you have of the PSS Airbus? I've read the various reviews, but would appreciate some feedback from those "PICers" that have used it. I'm thinking of adding another jet to my hanger, and ~$23 for the base package doesn't seem so bad. Thanks,Craig

>>There is a WILCO forum at avsim where your question may be >addressed. I mean the Phoenix simulations Airbus, NOT the Wilco one. Thanks,Craig

Lousy flight dynamics, decent panel, not even in the PIC ballpark...you know Craig, PSS has an forum right here on AVSIM, I really do hope you went in there before coming into this forum to ask.Ryan

>Lousy flight dynamicsHuh?When it comes to systems modelling it doesn't come close to PIC, but believable enough for normal operations (it doesn't feature any failures).Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

In my opinion, it isn't even remotely in the same category as 767PIC. PIC's flight dynamics are much smoother, the autopilot is oh so much smoother, and in general PIC is a much more polished product. I know which one sits in the hangar and which one I fly.Lee Hetherington (KBED)http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Personal opinion...Nicely done. Dynamics are ok if you watch your weight at the various stages of the flight. The FCDU is well done and pretty functional.Nice outside shape and eye candy. Panel looks nice and the enlarged PFD/ND are very nice and will help you do some nice IFR.The systems simulation is very basic, not even at 50% of the PIC763, but it will satisfy most.HOWEVER, If you can GO FOR THE BOXED version. At the same money you get plenty of liveries and most important a VHS tape with the A320 (real) doing BHX-ZTH-BHX.Personally, I'm very happy with it.George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

My good friend who use to fly for Dragon Air {A320s} does not like the PSS at all, well at least the flight dynamics etc. I know this is a SHOCK but he has been testing Wilco's A320 {with unreleased patch from me} and says it flys much closer to the real bird. I also get great frames with the patch. I would not buy it untill the patch is released though or you will notice many issues that distract from the aircraft. Anticyclone is doing a A340 with a 2D panel that looks really promissing that will be out this summer. Best Wishes, Randy J. Sorry about that Craig - maybe I should READ the entire post BEFORE answering, eh?I have the PSSA320. It is collecting dust right now on a shelf. I have offered to sell cheap - so far no takers.http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpgDS CVA3339 & UKD149

>you know Craig, PSS has an forum right here >on AVSIM, I really do hope you went in there before coming >into this forum to ask. Lighten up Ryan. Craig says he really likes the PIC 767 and would like the opinion of others who like PIC. Pretty reasonable request in my book. What better place to ask than here? He also clearly states "OT" and "PSS Airbus" in the title, so it's pretty easy for you to skip the whole thread if it offends your sensibilities. ;-)phil

I have to tell you have probably most of the add ons out there and I really like it. I have no idea what the flight dynamics really feel like so I dont think I can comment on that. I just can say that I have no problems flying it on my computer. I hear Airbus is not meant to be flown by hand but you are to let the AP do all the flying. I have tried to fly it by hand just for fun and it worked out very well. I love PIC767 it was the first add on I really jumped into and learned. On the same account I have had alot of fun with PSS A3xx. So my suggestion to you is to try it as you say you can manage 23 bucks I think you may enjoy it.Hope this helps Andrew

i also have the pss packaged version. the external model looks really nice. it is highly detailed. except the nose. looks a bit weird. so i merged the projectairbus A320 with the pss panela and sounds. works great. the project airbus external model looks more accurate. the nose looks like the real airbus nose. im not a pilot so i cant comment on flightdynamics. im 14 and a freshmen in highschool in America and hoping to be a pilot(can someone tell me the steps i need to start taking to become a commercial pilot?)Adam

Thanks to all of you who replied to my Airbus question. It's nice to get viewpoints from those with similar likes (767PIC!). I think I'll hold out and see how the patch with Wilco A320 PIC pans out. But the boxed version of PSS A320 does sound tempting. Thanks again everyone.Regards,Craig

No offence at all to anyone but has anyone ever thought that the PSS A320 is based on a A320 and not 767 as a few are comparing it to the 767 which i have to say is excellent but the PSS is also top notch.Once again no offence to anyoneBlue skiesG-MIDY

While the PSS is a nice package it has not been recieved well by real world A320 pilots which just goes to show you the differance between PIC 767 and PSS A230. The PSS just does not fly like a real A320. No offence to anyone either.Best Wishes, Randy J.
