April 26, 200323 yr Here we Lenny based on a 767-524H ie a 767 with RB211's.The asterisk denotes the fact that autobrake 1 is never used on the 76.

Secondly, do you use yaw damper/auto coord. with>the mentioned value? I have it at 24 and have noticed that>rudder has almost no effect in the air...With that setting you should have Yaw Damper (Left Yaw Damper switch) on and Auto Coordination (Right Yaw Damper switch) off. Which number works best for the rudder effectiveness setting depends a lot on your controls I think. Using a Sidewinder twist stick, I find that 20 works well.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
April 27, 200323 yr Do we not need a additional file first before installing the taxi thrust mod.?AirEd is required for this modification-thAT'S WHAT AVSIM SAYS
April 27, 200323 yr From your question, I am guessing you are not familiar with the AirEd program much less how it is used. That's OK because up until last week, I had never used it either. Let me explain a couple things relating to making the modification. This is not for anyone who is uncomfortable managing and editing files. It is not for the weak hearted when it comes to computer software.AirEd is a program used to edit Flight Simulator 'air' files. An example, if FS used an Excel spreadsheet to act as the 'air' file, you would need the Excel program to open and edit the data file. The way FS actually does it, is to use a compiled file with the extension '.air'. To edit a '.air' file, you need to use the utility program called 'AirEd'.The modification itself is a rewrite of one particular component within the air file. The component itself is what you download from Mathias. You then need to download the free program called AirEd to open Mathias's component, copy the contents of it, then open YOUR default '.air' file, and paste the rewritten component in the proper place. All of that is explained in Mathias's readme file which is in his zipped modification download. If this has you scratching your head, STOP and come begging someone you know and trust to just send you their already modified '.air' file. With that, you would just need to backup your original file and drop this one in it's place. The thing you must consider when doing that is that whoever you ask would most likely need to know and trust you as well. The '.air' file is protected by copy write so most folks I know, including me, would really need to be convinced that you have a licensed copy of 767PIC before giving it out. Many forum users do not place details in their public profile. Even a name is absent for many members. The first place I look when reading a post from someone I do not know is their profile. When basic details are hidden, it immediately becomes a barrier toward that big thing we call trust.
April 28, 200323 yr Hi,as I am having problems downloading AirEd with my download manager (always aborting the download at a file size of 98% :-hmmm), can anyone send it to me by e-mail? [email protected] you very much!MichaelLOWW
April 29, 200323 yr Well I should have known that something on the minus side would eventually surface with the new taxi modification. I received a note from my good friend Gary Norris the other day raising the possibility that the aircraft creeps forward with the parking brake set. Gary has observed that with a GRWT of 260,000 pounds, the aircraft will make a slow advance forward with the engines at idle.Mike Murphy has tested and confirmed this behavior. In his words: GW about 257,000m 12,000 fuel remaining with standard ZFW of 245,000. I left the engines running and set the parking brakes. I switched to Virtual Cockpit view and watched my relationship to the corner of the terminal. There IS an incredibly slow creep. Perhaps the virtual equivalent of 1 foot in about 1 minute. For me this is not a big problem as I don't sit at the gate with the engines running. Perhaps it might be a wee bit of a problem if you were left holding short of a rwy for too long. All in all a small trade-off for the much improved taxi."So be aware of this behavior folks. The next time you pull up too close to something and leave the engines running for an extended period of time, it may not be pretty. We need simulated chocks eh?I agree with Murf, this is a small trade-off for the taxi improvement.
April 29, 200323 yr It's on the way Michael. Thanks again for the information on LOWW that was used for our PIC Flight in January.MikeB
April 29, 200323 yr On my Microsoft Force Feedback joystick the throttles dont close properly! They go down to about 0.5% closed to perhaps try this situation again pressing the F1 key?Boeing Freak
April 29, 200323 yr Michael,Remember the IFDG 757 FDE made by Iz ? It had/has (or some models of it) the same problem with slowly creeping away even with park brakes on... Hmn... I wonder if changing some of the numbers in the added row (in the air-file) would do the trick here... Matthias ?Tero PPL(A)
April 29, 200323 yr Hmmm :-( It depends on how much we have to lower the values to keep the aircraft from creeping forward. If it is not too much, we could decrease the value for 25% N1 in the first row a little and increase the value in the second row.I will see what I can do when I come home from work.Regards,Matthias Neusinger
April 29, 200323 yr On my Microsoft Force Feedback joystick the throttles dont close properly! They go down to about 0.5% closed to perhaps try this situation again pressing the F1 key?I have the throttle axis on my CH Yoke mapped under FSUIPC so it does go completely to idle. I even have a small null zone at the idle position just in case of a little noise on the axis.
April 29, 200323 yr I have installed the new air mode and love it! I don't get the creeping as described so I am a very happy camper. I have also added the pushback gauge onto the FMC on the center ped. A great addition. Both of these addons have been added to the "ADDON" page at PIC767 Flying Club. The list grows!!!!Thanks so much you guys that design and make these great additions! You are in a class of your own!Very Happy
