July 8, 200322 yr Well I won't go into all the details other than the runway *friction* that has caused many a problem is gone in FS2004! Not only does it load aircraft-scenery-flights faster than fs2002, you can really see the runway from miles out CLEAR unlike 2002. [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 8, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi, Fs2002 looks outdated compare to fs2004, 3rd party add-ons that have followed th SDK works, aircraft that`s don`t works will probably get patched by the product like every version because they hack the "SDK" or simply minor thing to change. Scenery engine have been improved, less blur, there is new line in the fs9.cfg, I got no more blur with my system. They here to many things non fixable , that`s have been fixed and improved, such as taxi light (you can customize your runways lights environment in fs9.cfg) ,weather engine, sky system environment, new 3rd airports, new bridge, tower, 3d object, better road rendering, rivers (no more fuzzy road) autogen redone from scratch, more type of autogen, better ATC, more solid AI TRAFFIC improved, clickable virtual cokcpit new water, some new feature thing in the aircraft system, bumpmappping, add all new 3rd party capability not available in fs2002.P4 2.53GHZ 533mHz, 512 DDR Ram, Gforce4 TI 4200 128 meg.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 8, 200322 yr FS2K4 looks great - for my GA operations.Let's face it - most of us will not leave our beloved PIC behind, while curiousity will guide us to install 2K4 anyway. We will all cross our fingers that WELP will allow or make us a patch. if it's a new version - great! but a patch is just fine with me.PDMG or scarebuses are not appealing to me - sorry, I'm a 767 guy.oh, and let's put things on the table - I will pay for a patch if asked, I bet there is a lot of extra work involved.Just do it! ;-)
July 8, 200322 yr Hi Peter,I could not agree more with you. I am frustrated too and I feel we deserve better. We belong to a small minority who are interested in flying in close to reality conditions. There is no way Microsoft is going to spend time and money on our wishes just because we are too few and our wishes are too expensive to develop.Having said that most developpers will soon realize that FS2004 is a nice toy for the kids which has the potential of being a very good platform for new addons interesting to those of us who do serious flying. I am not too pessimistic.Once again good simulations will be developped as addons rather than as a super flight simulator. I had no illusion when FS2004 was announced I never thought it will be a super flight simulator. One only need to look at the forums and download sections. What do you see there: sceneries, repaints, trees, cars, and only once in a blue moon a really good application. So why Microsoft would bother?I believe we can live with it as long as developpers continue to produce excellent addons. What would be the other alternative? a totally new flight simulator devoted to "our" wishes? no way the market is too small. See Aerowinx PS 1.3 no upgrade in 3 years. Several independent non compatible flight simualtors: one for the sceneries and toilet lovers, one for the AI, ATC addicts, one for the would-be pilots with sophicticated glass cockpits. Where does this bring us? chaos!Has anyone got a perfect solution?Michael
July 8, 200322 yr spot on! but what are the odds? However I am optimistic like most of you guys.Michael
July 8, 200322 yr Good afternoon all,Have a tendancy to agree when it comes to keeping fs2002 on mycomputer and that, solely for the pleasure of "flying" PIC...Like most others I will change to fSCOF as nearly every new versionof FS has brought some welcome additions and from what one hears thisnew version should be another step forward towards even more realism. It certainly would be GREAT to see a patched version of PIC that would work within FSCOF and I sincerely hope that the conceptors of PIC will find the time and motivation to do so...I think that quite a few PIC users would also pay for a patch as for the moment there doesn't seem to be any other aircraft that has the same feel as PIC.Certainly I would be willing to invest a few bucks to keep on usingthis exceptionnal add-on. That saying, there is no stopping progress and it is just a matter of time (I hope) until something similar comes around again. Hopefully some of the original PIC talents will get together again and give us something akin to 767 PIC...Until that day , FS2002 and PIC will remain on my hard drive !!!Happy landings...
July 9, 200322 yr No help for your question but given the hard core 67'ers here I think the subject line really should read "Is FS2004 compatible with PIC767? vice the contrary. ;-)Kevin in CYOW
