PIC vs PMDG 737 NG

"But you seem to have forgotten what question started this whole thread:"Indeed I have not forgotten. The thread greets me as the number 1 or 2 post in the forum every time I visit. But I think the thread has strayed from a comparison of two products to the virtual equivalent of a soccer riot. On one side the PMDG cheerleaders and the opposing force that believes PMDG should be stoned in the town square. All this bickering has accomplished nothing... the cheerleaders are still waving their pom-poms and the opposing force is still stockpiling rocks.Anyway... I can see my plea to let this thread die has been in vain, so I won't contribute further to this thread remaining at the top of the forum."You can't have egg bacon sausage and spam without the spam."- Monty Pythonhttp://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/88...on/mp-spam3.wav

>"What we got here is a failure to communicate">"Some men you just can't reach">>You can blow this thread off as a embarrasment or as selfish>ignorant intolorance or whatever. But to me its apparent that>a much broader consensus has and continues to form an opinion>of these two contrasting products. If I were you I would pay>attention to what has happened in this tread becaues in my>opinion it has greater significance that what appears at the>surface. This has been a very mature outcry of paying>customers not children.>>This may not be the shot heard round the would but it does>have some significance and I am proud to be a part of it>>Dennis Waggoner >You are the man Dennis....! When I plunk down my hard earned $40 that gives me a lot of leeway in what I can moan and groan about. Of course the discussion must be semi-civilized. As you can see in the above posts some ego's have arisen and some sore spots laid open. The PMDG fiasco was avoidable and like I said before I am relying on those folks to make it right for all of the customers and supporters. I was really looking forward to a great product in that B737NG. As it stands I keep going back to FS2002 and PIC767 along with DreamFleet B737. Now back to work.Best regards and happy flyingTony Ascaso RN

Ted, a better response to that FSUPIC issue thread is why in the heck is that bug still in FS in the first place? It shouldn't even be an issue - MS should have fixed it in 2004, surely they know about it.Ryan

RyanWhy would MS bother to fix it when there has been fix for it for years in a freeware FSUIPC.Except now it`s not free is it?You can defend PMDG all you want but in the end it`s about informed decisions and as far as I am concerned PMDG has failed in every way to provide that to it`s potential users.Look at their website,it tells you nothing and screenshots are small and of poor quality.PMDG did not provide any documentation or even a user`s manual on release.I would go on but I know where you are headed with this and am not going to allow myself to be baited. In the end it is PMDG`s responsibility to provide users with what they need to know in order to operate the NG in the FS enviroment not the other way around. The fact that you cannot start the NG from a cold/dark state without purchasing additional addons seems to me to be a PMDG problem that needed to be addressed amongst many things.I actually feel sorry for those guys that are trying to fly realistically but are finding they can`t because they did`nt know what they needed to do it in 2004.I bet you don`t though because you want to pick an argument with me instead for bringing it to light.I got to wonder why no one from PMDG or testers are touching that thread in the first place. But that`s par for the course over there and I`ve seen pages and pages move off the front page without as much as a wink from PMDG but Lefteris has plenty of time to scold Lee Heathrington for the tone of his posts and actually say it`s slowing down his work on the su1 patch.UNBELIVABLE!!!Ted

Bump LOL Do it again

Ted, How am I trying to pick an argument with you? I agree with everything you're saying - the difference seems to be that I think PMDG is going to fix the plane and you think it's a completely lost cause. I would not advise someone to buy the plane until it's fully patched, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be willing to help make sure it gets to that point. I do want something for that $40... maybe you don't?Ryan

I hope this is not too big an image, it would be terrible if this wonderful tread which is packed full of such kind and complementary postings got deleted because this image is TOO BIGhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/31879.jpg

Oh and on the FSUPIC battery issue again - why should it be Pete Dowson's (or any third party's) responsibility to fix Microsoft's bugs?Impressive pic there Mike! ;)Ryan

Sweet pic Mike. That's they way we should all fly.

Quoting Stiffler "I got to keep this party going"Just curious, how come no comparisons between PIC767 and PICA320?

LOL, I would say, the size of the image?

Let me just say...The ONLY problem I have with PIC is that it is a 767 and I would like to fly shorter flights. So I purchased PMDG737, after the initial disappointment I finally abandoned it after the first patch...Tried the PSS Dash 8 for a while... not bad, but gues what...I'm back to flying 767PIC :-lol :-lol :-lol

Totally agree with you. I'd love a PIC767 treatment of the Airbus A320, and not sure if PICA320 is it. PSS A320 is a great product, just not as great as PIC767. As for the Dash 8, the PSS Dash 8 is good, the exterior model is fantastic. Try Oleksiy Frolov's Dash 8, minus the FMC it is the 'PIC for the commuter lovers'Hey, I thought of one other thing I love about the PIC767. How many of us use extra monitors? Just so happens that the bitmaps in PIC are square, no goofy black spots (ie. PSS Airbus A320 throttle), makes for easy transfer and a clean setup on an external monitor.
