Eric, It is wonderful to hear from you and thanks for all you have done for the FS community and for all those wonderful panels - Your efforts set new standards and PIC certainly set the bar very high for subsequent commercial products - the Flight 1 ATR by your friend Lou and others is a worthy contender! Thanks also for the time and help you gave me and so amny others to learn and get it right - That will always be remembered and appreciated. With regard to the ill thought comments in this forum about your motives as expressed in your email, I can see nothing self serving in your account whatsoever and speaking as a specialist physician there is as much stress in what may happen as there is in dealing with what has happened and indeed this is true in many different scenarios be it work, health financial or otherwiseI for one am personally trying to keep the airline industry in the air with well over 200,000 miles a year travel - I am currently writing this in my hotel in Florence Italy - the last time I wrote you was from Bangkok! Thanks again, and very best wishes to you and your family now and in the futureAs everRichardCYHM

Dear Eric,You have not been forgotten. Thank you for your warm and well written account. It is so nice to hear how you're doing.Wishing you all the best of the good in future endeavors.:-wave

"you might want to read what I wrote in my second message to Eric about "pack mentality," and respecting others who may not hold the same opinions here as you."I think you're mistaking "pack mentality" with _common_ decency. We don't come into your home and abuse you when you try to catch up with your old friends.BTW, this is a support forum... not a soap box. If you want to voice your opinions, I recommended trying the PPRuNe Jet Blast forum ... or even non-airline related forums (There are a lot worse injustices in this world than folks losing their jobs through no fault of their own. If you and your friends don't want to spend your dollars on LDS1 because you don't like who is involved with production/testing of this product, then send those dollars to one of those war-stricken, impoverished nations in Africa. If you do, I'm sure you'll feel a lot less bitter than you feel now).Regards.Ian.

Dear "HAWKMAN"I have to look at your comments and wonder, why????Let

Hey Eric,Just wanted to say thanks. You should feel no pressure to commit to another commercial flight-sim venture because what you've already contributed to our community is monumental. My best MSFS experiences have all been with PIC767, and I've had years upon years of experiences (okay... so I didn't start until FS4!!!) Never had airline operations been so thoroughly simulated. I never thought I could enjoy pre-flighting an FS jet until I found myself sitting there loading a flightplan into the FMC and reviewing takeoff data, while waiting for the IRS to align (yes, I always opted for the entire 15 minute alignment period ;). Your creation made the Boeing 767 my favorite civillian jet; I can only hope that they are still being widely used when I attempt to get my foot wet in the industry X number of years from now. Speaking of the industry, I appreciate your honest, no-bull insight into the current employment situation among airline pilots right now-- from your point of view, at least. I am thankful now that I chose to serve as an Air Force officer since I will have somewhat of a secure platform from which to watch the aviation industry recover... and I know it will. The Jetblues and the Southwests play by a different set of rules than the majors, and always have. Unfortunately, the economic inefficiency from which the big guys suffered (an entire two decades after deregulation, mind you) all the way up to 9/11 did not become critical until after the attacks. Deregulation good for the American traveller, while it was a swift kick in the balls the large airlines and their employees. It is easy to say in hindsight, that the companies should have streamlined they're businesses along the lines of Southwest and the other post-deregulation upstarts in the span of those two decades. But it would've take something really catastrophic to draw them into the shadow of bankruptcy... what Delta, American, or United CEO could ever have imagined an event like the 9/11 attacks coming? So now the big carriers are playing catch-up. The last shreds of romance surrounding the flying profession have been pushed aside to make room for practical economics. Years and years of restructuring work has taken place just two or three, resulting in massive growing (or in this case "shrinking"?) pains. But I believe time will be the healing factor in all of this. People will fly again like they once used to, corporate jets and the internet will not steal all the business travellers, oil prices will stabilize, and the US economy in general will get stronger and stimulate the airline inustry. So I guess my message is thanks Eric for all you've done to enhance our hobby, and keep your chin up. I will certainly try to. I still can't believe pilots get payed to do what they do, lol.Best Regards,Phil Geddes
