April 16, 200323 yr Hi,What's the collective opinion as to the best detonater driver set for the Ti4200 card? Thanks.
April 16, 200323 yr Try the hardware & NVidia forums on: www.guru3d.com - LOTS of useful info! Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo
April 17, 200323 yr Well, there will probably be LOTS of opinions on this one. And, probably, no concensus. But, for what it may be worth, my FS2002 pick for maximum raw speed (with a couple of stability issues) are the 40.71's. And for a little less speed with maximum stability try the 29.42's.Trip
April 17, 200323 yr The 40.71's are the faster set. In the quest for stability, they calmed them down a bit before releasing the 40.72's
April 17, 200323 yr I would recommend the 43.00 to anyone using a GeForce 4 based card, nothing but good luck with this driver release. :)
April 17, 200323 yr I keep going back to the Nvidia 30.82 set. Very stable and little variability in fps rates. Works best for me.GF4-4200-128Meg. Bert
April 17, 200323 yr Considering the frequency of this topic, a better question might be:"Worst drivers for a GeForce card?"With that question, you'll at least have the opportunity to get somewhat meaningful answers - because there are only a few sets that truly have stability problems or major bugs for particular games. This might be good info to have so you know what to stay away from.As for the original question: the answer wholly depends upon your criteria of importance. All of the nv driver sets perform so similarly to each other that the question is pert near moot if indeed performance is your yardstick: specially when talking about a greatly CPU limited game like FS. Sure, some have slightly better performance than others, but the factors that effect each set have more to do with specific setups and configurations than overall driver improvements. In the end, you'd be best served to choose your driver based on stability, feature set and bug fixes rather than performance. There is a wide variety of feature differences between the different versions (dual-monitor configuration, TV out abilities, AA and AF abilities, stability, etc). But huge performance differences isn't one of them.Simply food for thought.Good luck,Elrond ---Not enough bandwidth to display this signature! Don't reformat hard drive? (y/N)
April 18, 200323 yr Hi Folks,I recently installed an Asylum GeForce 4 Ti4200 64 mb card in my system (Dell PIII, 1 gig, 512 pc133 ram, Windows ME).I ran the FS2002 Benchmark Program (newest version 2.2) with 2 different drivers, here's the result:Driver 30.82 Average 10.15 Max Peak 32.20 Max peak peak 30.20 Min 2.08 Driver 43.45Average 11.69 Max Peak 47.63 Max peak peak 44.57 Min 3.06I've used the new card and 43.45 drivers for about 25 hours with FS2002 with no crashes. Really love the Ti4200Hope this helps. Howard
April 19, 200323 yr Howard,I have the same card as you do by Asylum, and yes I love it also, had to add some cooling however to it. With the 43.45 driver I got good fps and quality, but changing views in the PIC 767 I would get a pause going from front to side views. I don't get these pauses with the 30.82's. Can't explain why but I still find the 30.82 more stable and my texture quality when working properly is quite good.Just my 2centsBob
April 20, 200323 yr Hi Bob,Have you looked at www.guru3d.com ? They have excellent forums about loads of graphic issues (and others), and a specific forum about Nvidia drivers. How did you realize that you had to add more cooling for your Asylum card? How did you add more cooling. Also, what are your system specs, mine are:Dell PIII, 1 gig, 512 mb ram. Thanks,Howard
