Much better performance with RC2 - One timeout out of a dozen cycles downloaded, and I'm pretty sure that was my ISPs fault. Thanks,sg

Damian:Are you getting your downloads from NOAA and running them from your own servers? Or do you redirect your software (A/S-1.8) and it does the work through your software?Just curious.Ron McLeod CYEG

Hi Ron,The data is downloaded directly to the wxRE client from NOAA servers. In 2.0 I plan to make this all via private server so that I have control over the stability and efficiency of data transfers..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Damian,I am still running AS v. 1.6, and it has been working smooth as silk the last few days (unlike the earlier "time out" and peculiar winds aloft days). I don't want to "fix" it by installing an unnecessary update, because v.1.6 is presently providing timely online data over my cable modem and operating well with FS2k2 on my WinXP PC.However, so many AS users keep posting positive results with wxre18updaterc2.zip, that I believe it may be time to give it a try. I DLd it from the URL you just provided and saved it to the desktop, but before I proceed to unzip/install it, I have the following questions (which I think have been answered here, but I couldn't find them): I never installed v.1.7; do I need to do that first, or can I just go ahead and install v. 1.8 RC2 over my present v. 1.6? Does it, by default, unzip to the same v.1.6 folder, or must it be redirected to its own (new) discreet folder? Thanks for any guidance.Russ Fromholz

Hi Russ,Just install it over your existing installation - it works for any 1.x versions. You need to point it to your existing Activesky wxRE folder so it updates correctly.Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Damian,Small issue: (this has happened to me with previous releases too)I'm flying in Live/Online mode with a seven minute update interval, TAFs on, etc. When it changes to a new station, I'm seeing the fact that it's on a new station where it says "Active WX XXXX" in the program window, however, the METAR string itself is not changing to reflect the new station. Example, I just took off from Tucson in my A320 bound for Palm Springs and I've had three active stations already - KTUS, KCGZ and now KGBN, but the METAR string is still showing the initial KTUS one from when I started the flight. I know it's updating because I'm seeing cloud and wind changes, but it's not showing me what it changed to.Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for all the great work with this program!Ryan

Hi Ryan,Two things this could be... Ignore all wx updates during force.. if you are within force range and are using this option it will ignore any new metar reports yet will update the 'active station' text. If you are getting wx changes after that it COULD be the transitions via wxRE or FSUIPC.The other possibility is parse errors. Check your runtime status screen when this happens and see if PARSE ERROR appears in the METAR date/time field. Let me know what you find!-Damian

Some things to check:Clear all wx before loading ASwxREMake sure you have the latest version of FSUIPC / WideFSCheck all FSUIPC / WideFS settings, follow the manual to make sure important settings are correctIf you continue to get this message too often (it is normal to see this on occasion) then please send me a screenshot of the status and main screens and I'll see if I can help.
