August 30, 200520 yr Author hey Jim,not a bad one but I just had a swing from -24 to -8 in 2-3 seconds. I was about 100 nm past N5600.0/W2400.0 The A/P was able to recover but a +15 swing in TAT in a matter of seconds is pretty severe. I will paste the raw data after the flight. I copied it to a text file but I am browsing the web on a different machine that I fly on... It showed the closetst weather station as $273I will post the raw data afterward although like I said, this was not a terrible one, just a +15 swing. Maybe Pete needs to add something to FSUIPC for temperature smoothing as well as wind smoothing...-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

August 31, 200520 yr Author Hi Jim, I hope this helps too. If there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to ask. I could not catch the station prior to the drop from -24 to -8 well because I didn't know it was going to happen LOL but I did get the station it rose which was $273 and then station after where it went back down to -20 or -22 which was EGPU. I wish I knew the station before as I am sure it would have helped to know if it was real or ASV generated. Here is the info: Incidentally, I was at FL370 I wish it was one of the really good ones with a jump to +29 but I can still try that tomorrow if you need me to. Even this shows a +18 jump from one station to the next though.$273FL030: 285/29 (7.10) FL060: 289/26 (0.80) FL090: 288/26 (-2.60)FL120: 285/26 (-13.50) FL180: 262/19 (-27.00) FL240: 254/11 (-40.10)FL300: 252/15 (-47.60) FL340: 252/17 (-43.90) FL390: 251/21 (-41.50)egpuFL030: 206/30 (11.80) FL060: 227/31 (8.30) FL090: 221/39 (7.30)FL120: 220/52 (-1.00) FL180: 216/54 (-14.10) FL240: 215/70 (-25.40)FL300: 220/65 (-41.10) FL340: 222/69 (-50.80) FL390: 222/68 (-56.30)Incindentally, the approach was beautiful. September 2, 200520 yr Hi Paul,Is it safe to say that the changes took place when moving from one station to the next?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 2, 200520 yr Author Yes sir.For example right now I am doing KEWR-EGCC.I have three waypoint transitions already marked on my navlog to look out for. Going from CYMON winds are 246/43 then at 5340N they are 263/25 and at 5524 they are 339/072 These are succesive waypoints with huge wind differences so I am guessing I will have TAT issues along these waypoints as well. Fortunately, I fly the whole thing in real time and pretty much sit here and watch and listen to everything so I will watch it and see. I knew you guys were a bit busy so I did't want to say anything for a few days. September 2, 200520 yr Hi Paul,Thanks for the kindly bump ealier. I did let this slip a bit due to happenings around here and real world stuff. The wind differences should be smooth due to the smoothing built into ASV and FSUIPC. But now the temp issue is another matter. If temps change rapidly, there is not a way to smooth these changes out. I know it has been asked a few times of Pete to try to get this into FSUIPC. I am really not sure if the number of stations has anything to do with this, but I guess it might; fewer stations mean faster temp. changes. As long as the data is accurate I don't know if there is anything else we can do.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 3, 200520 yr Hi Jim, i read the whole thread and yes i get the exact same situation.Just so Paul sees what my original post said here it is....>>It seems my TAT is changing often and the speed and direction of crz wind, also because of weather the plane thinks it is still in climb mode rather than CRZ.Station $227 has showed the wind direction and speed change rapidly but only stabilizes after a minute or so. I beleive the previous station reported via ASV was $250.
September 3, 200520 yr >I don't know if there is anything else we>can do.Jim, this is just an idea. Could there be an option in ASV to force SAT to some constant user-selectable value and disregard SAT reported by stations.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.

September 4, 200520 yr Seeing Paul and I are both using the 747, to Paul, do you notice this happens only at pseudo stations over ocean mainly and when resuming a saved flight?
September 4, 200520 yr I get it sometimes but not when resuming....haven't done a saved flight yet....I did fly a North Atlantic route yesterday, I noticed the TAT went once from -20 to -11....this didn't cause any severe problems..this time......Jim could you ask to have D. see if he can put in a routine that if the temp varies by more than 10 or more degrees in a pseudo station that it will continue reporting the last valid station temps...that would preclude the need to have a smoothing routine.....Again, I have not seen this problem with valid reporting data from 24-7 weather stations.
September 4, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,I will work on getting something together that will solve this... I think a "force average enroute temps" option may be the best bet.. thanks for all the feedback! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 5, 200520 yr Author That is amazing news. Thanks for all the great support on this Jim and Damian and thanks for the backup guys,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
