Long pause at weather reload

Featured Replies

Hallo folks,Something new came up out of the blue which seems to be related to the ASV to AS6 upgrade.During the weather reload/update I get a 4-5 second pause and the sim seems to freeze during this time.Other than that it runs very smoothly, it's just this long freeze that should be investigated.Here's my cfg for your reference://ASv6 configuration file Build 441[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsDominikDane aplikacjiCloudLayerLimit = 4LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = DefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Random AllDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Random AllAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = TrueForceSecondaryServer = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = TrueUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = FalseUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks a lot,,Dom

Hi,This sounds like possible AV software slowing things down while ASG is submitting/copying the updated cirrus textures per your "Random All" auto-themes.If AV is disabled, as a test, does the pause go away?Best,

Hey, that's interesting, indeed I have my Avast AV running in the background.I will try to disable it and see if this cures it - hope to avoid being bombarded by viruses and mean troyans.ThanksDom

Jim,After a long delay I checked running both with AV off and saw no difference whatsoever.Again, what I see is a very pronounced stutter at weather reload/write.I checked to see what the AS6 is doing at the time the stutter occurs and I found it saying 'writing station...'.ThanksDom

Hallo Chris,Yes, I did.No change I'm afraid.So long,Dom

Hi Dom,This is interesting. I don't recall any other reports like this and it appears to be unique.Something is causing FSUIPC weather writes to lag it seems. There is always a normal 1/4 second stutter at the end of all weather updates (required wx activation preceding writes) but 4-5 seconds during writes is not right. Are you on wideFS?If you can send me an FSUIPC.log with "wx" and "writes" logging enabled while you experience this effect, I will check it out and possibly forward these to FSUIPC's author Pete Dowson for investigation.Best,

I will do Damian.I read the pinned topic at the top and started wondering whether it is not the auto-submit option I had on.I will disable it and see if this eliminates the problem.Thank you very much,Dom

Hello Jim,Actually I also have noticed these momentary freezes where my simulation screen looks like it is "flashing" on/off and there is stop in the simulation while the screen goes black for a second and after 2-3 seconds, it resumes. This definitely did not occur with ASV5.I am using FSUIPC 3.52 and McAfee Antivirus 7.1 along with Zone Alarm Firewall but like I said, I never had problems with Active 2004 and ASV5.** IMPORTANT: I tried downloading your official service release 1 update but the page keeps giving "cannot be displayed". The 1D unofficial update link is OK as it leads to a download window though I did not download it just yet as it is not official.** Is there anything wrong with the AS6 service release 1 link?John

Hi John,Your situation and the one addressed in this thread are not the same I don't think.Flashing is usually due to Render to Texture or video drivers. Set your RtT the opposite it is now.Prettty sure there is only one active link and that would be 1D. Unless I have missed something!!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Thanks Jim.Do you mean turn OFF render to texture in FS2004 display settings, as I have turned it on when before it was always off. I thought I had read it had to be turned on but I might be wrong. Thanks for the link - since I posted this, I have downloaded and have done one flight already with the update 1D and it works fine without issues so far.John

Just to let you know Gents,Like I suspected, I decided to uncheck the auto-submit option and the long stutter went away.Thank you very much for a continous, unrivalled support you offer.I only hope one day our cloud cover beneath our planes would look like this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/138952.jpgSo long...Dom

Hi Dom,Try to stay with auto submit but only use all random, not wx unfluenced, since all random only insert the texture one time before fs2004 is started, compare to wx influenced insert cirrus texture each time the weather is updated this copy texture during fs2004 is in action, your system is strugling because of the 13 bmp copy process when fs2004 is active, something is wrong here, these should not happend. The clouds with your picture look like more towering clavus clouds, these in Fs appears in some situation, not like these resolution but the type of clouds, it is possible bit it will take time to do.
