Through logical trouble-shooting I have>discovered other things as well, I can safely say that most>suggestions in this thread do not apply to You and I. Let Me>explain..after installing ASX I too noticed the speed jump on>landing, I had to come in at stall speed on the threshold and>DON'T bounce, cause every bounce shot Me faster and faster>till the runway disappeared under Me at 300' agl and 140>knots! >Next I notice if you do a hard bank after takeoff things get>weird- stall alarm and a straight drop to the earth as though>you never had airspeed, even though I was well inside of the>flight envelope for the AC. Next I noticed the higher the wind>speed and the greater the directional changes of the wind the>worse the problem got (thanks to flying around Hurricane>Gustavf!) Started checking other default A/C and the prob. was>in so many A/C I just assumed it was all of them and had>Nothing to do with FSX (sort of). At the same time the engine>sounds quit matching throttle settings (Hmmm?)and did not>match the rpm gauge it was also messing with auto throttle on>A/C that had that function, reminded me of the buggyass>FSNAV/FS9 auto pilot thingy. Ok the first thing that came to>mind was tailwind gusts, I checked it many times and was>mostly headwind as normal for landing this is when I noticed>the radical dir./speed changes how could this be ASX has wind>smoothing (shift and data)??? So I turned off the wind>smoothing stuff and wala no more weirdness! Its like those>settings are amplifiers instead of smoothers. My theory = not>quite sure still isolating things, but My suspicion is I>should have never installed FSUIPC on this system! Let us>know.... Hi.Thanks for the suggestion of removing FSUIPC, this made me go and double check it had not crept back into things. :-) At present I do not have it installed. Due to testing this issue, I have my system ripped right down to pure FSX and ASX/XGraphics.Thanks :-)David.
September 24, 200817 yr Try turning off the wind smoothing stuff on the settings tab in ASX it fixed the prob. for Me and I see no adverse effects in FSX. It's as though its opposite of what it should be. Uncheck Enable Wind Data Smoothing, and Uncheck Enable Wind Shift Stabilization. The Winds Aloft settings didn't seem to make a difference for Me. David.

Good Luck Hi.Thanks for the suggestions.I already have those unchecked, winds aloft is also set to disable. Infact, all settings are at either off or at their minimum.David.

Good Luck Hi.Just reading your comments. From what you have written it looks like a clash with FSUIPC and a performance problem, do you feel I am also suffering from poor performance, hence I am also seeing this problem? Even though my settings are off or minimum? The reason I ask is that Jim mentioned this from the start, and although my PC appears to be the correct spec, maybe this is why this problem cannot be resolved? If you know what I mean?David.
September 24, 200817 yr My system aint top notch, but turning off the wind smoothing stuff works great for Me, I love ASX! I really miss FS9/AS6 I read all the reviews and the web sites misleading tales of FEX and ended up with a buggyass over complicated and unnecessary GUI that installs fancy #### textures into FSX for 40+dollars, needless to say I'm sticking with ASX! I also researched others before buying into ASX, and I know I made the right choice. Its one of the add-ons that you cannot use FSX without. It will be nice to get to the bottom of the niggly problem.
September 24, 200817 yr Hi,No maybe not 5 minutes, but you should wait until you see the weather change. I benefit from a second monitor so I can watch when ASX is done and FSX is ready.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 29, 200817 yr Hi.I have been travelling again, and just arrived back.Gone back over everything. The problem still exists, and am not sure what else there is to try.I thank everyone for their input and attempts to get a solution, I have learnt a lot. Its a shame we could not pin it down, but for me this seems to suggest its simply something wierd with my install/hardware, and as such will have to uninstall ASX until I can get some new hardware.David.
October 1, 200817 yr Hi Folks.I am back again, but have some interesting and great news. There was one last thing that I just had to try, and that was to reformat my hard disc (including removing and creating the partition), then reinstall from the OS up. So basically that is what I have done today. Within the last hour I sat down and re-tested everything, and the good news is, I no longer see the weird jump after landing. Yeah I know I cannot believe it either.I would say this is a totally extreme solution, but given we seemed to have tried everything - it was worth trying as a last very resort. Also, I cannot remember the last time I reinstalled XP, so was definitely worth doing.I would also like to note here, that my other problem is also resolved. This was where my setup got the stutters when flying near clouds, and the solution for that was to alter the settings to lighten the load and balance performance etc. Jim was right with that, and I guess I was hampered by whatever was wrong in the background with my install.I want to say that everyone

I also checked the filter box.Im still doing some tests so Im not completely sure if it is totally fixed yet. I also installed the FSUIPC 4.4316 beta dll which is supposed to help with some stolen axis issues. Im keeping a change log of everything Im trying till I can pinpoint the problem. Just purely FSX and ASX, and still saw the same problem.Since reformatting my hard drive, I have reinstalled every flight sim product that I have bought (which is a fair bit now), but the problem no longer occurs. I am not sure if I have FSUIPC installed, I will check that out.David.

I believe thats the prob here anyway. After installing the ATR I had to bump up the throttle sensitivity to max in FSX and I really think now is when something had changed. I really havent had any issues with this for I guess it will be almost 2 years now FSX is running. For me to reformat and reinstall everything Id prolly be retired by the time I finish. I have alot of other stuff set up on this box also.If not I'll uninstall the joystick and reinstall it and see if that helps. I did a few short hops in a Cessna 152 and the problem seemed better.Gonna try it in a 767 at KLAS and hope for the best. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager

October 3, 200817 yr Commercial Member >>Good luck with your testing.>>David.Well the simple fix here was go to the controls setting in FSX , hit reset defaults for axis sensitivities and then move the sliders back to wherever you had set them. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
