DC-3 in FSX/Acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi folks,In relation to some posts i've read about our DC-3/C-47 model having transparency problems in FSX/Acceleration ( spinning props and VC glass ) here's a quick fix for you to download and install : http://fssupport.com/maam/dc3_fsxacfix.zipJust unzip/overwrite the enclosed files in the texture folder of any of your Maam-Sim Dakotas that you fly in FSX/Acceleration and you'll have your glass back in the VC and normal transparent spinning props.Mind you, as our stuff is still FS9 ported over not all transparency problems are gone. Glass on the exterior model will disappear f.i. when you taxi along trees, fences, or any other scenery stuff that has an alpha channel applied. ( clouds are OK for some strange reason but i'm not complaining..:-cool ) If any designer reading this knows a way around this phenomenon *without* having to recompile the model i'll be glad to hear about it ! Thanks ! :-) Cheers,Jan

Is there a similar fix for the same problem with the B-25?

The other urgent fix is that the actual engine texture inside the cowling has become transparent. Hopefully there will be a fix for that.Lee

Lee, there's an easy quickfix for this too. I suppose you also have our " C-47 'All Theaters' Expansion Pack", right ? Find the texture folder for the BBMF Dakota, copy 'r4d_engine.bmp' and paste it inside the texture folder of any of our older Dakota models that are missing the gear box and other stuff. ( yes to overwrite ) For people who do not have the All Theaters Expansion pack simply donwload the FSX/Acceleration quickfix via the above link again.I have added the replacement 'r4d_engine.bmp', handle it as described above ( or just unzip the whole collection of replacement texture files again in the texture folders of any of our Dakotas that you fly with FSX/Acceleration ) Cheers,Jan

>Is there a similar fix for the same problem with the B-25?Not at the moment. The B-25 model requires much more attention to look more or less acceptable in FSX/Acc than the DC-3 model does. I'll see what i can do but don't your breath.. ;-)Cheers,Jan

Thanks Jan,MAAM DC3 is once again my favorite aircraft. Great work

Thank you for the file. I am glad I don't have to remove service pack 2 as it seems to have improved my graphics somewhat.

I downloaded Sp2 and it changed the MAAM-SIM DC-3 Prop, engine and no VC.I downloaded fix above. But when I opened the file there are only 5 picture files, where is the installation setup??Will you please advise.Sanal

Picture above wasn't clear. Hare is the new one., with problems

There is no installer. Jans' instructions in the post above say all there is to know: "Just unzip/overwrite the enclosed files in the texture folder of any of your Maam-Sim Dakotas that you fly in FSX/Acceleration and you'll have your glass back in the VC and normal transparent spinning props."Please keep in mind that this fix was put out before SP2 was released, so I don't know if it will fix your problems or not. But I refer you and others to the pinned thread at the top of the forum concerning FSX compatibility. We will not be patching and fixing the FS9 aircraft for FSX further. Instead we will be producing full FSX versions after we have completed our current TBF/TBM project.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif

Bill,"Just unzip/overwrite the enclosed files in the texture folder of any of your Maam-Sim Dakotas that you fly in FSX/Acceleration and you'll have your glass back in the VC and normal transparent spinning props."How I shall overwrite the texture folder (where is located??)Please see attachment.RegardsSanal

Is there any guidance for me to solve my problem to eliminate engine and prop apperence.ThanksSanal

Hi Sanal,The answer to that is in the first pinned thread. If you want to fly our FS2004 planes in FSX you will have to do so without Acceleration or the SP that is causing the issue. Otherwise you must wait for the full FSX versions of our planes to be released. With the Basic Compatibility Updates, they work fine with basic FSX as it originally released, but we do not intend to patch the FS9 planes further.
