December 26, 200520 yr Hi John.I see you've upgraded your rig.Looks awesome. FS must be running like a dream.Would love to see a couple of screenies from that card of yours. Also,I've enabled AAA on my X800PRO,is it possible to activate HQ AF as well and would it actually make use of it?.Cheers
December 27, 200520 yr Thanks John.If the registry edit is simple enough, could you possibly show me how to do it?Thanks.Abe
December 27, 200520 yr Hi Abe,I'm not too familiar with the registry edit because my card already supports those options by default. Sorry, I can't help more. :)Kiwimail; Yeah, shes quite a beast, runs like a dream. My pocket doesn't agree, but hey - can't take it when I go ;)I can select both options in the AA settings - not too sure what effect it'll have. I'll give it a run :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 27, 200520 yr I use the Omega Drivers and ATI Tray Tools with my X850XT PE. ATI Tray Tools allows me to set AAA without having to manually edit the registry. Each driver version seems to work better. I used to notice flashing polygons around high-density scenery areas with AAA on, but this seems to have diminished with each new version.Cheers,Paul
December 27, 200520 yr Thanks John. The setup seems to be working just fine as is, so a little difference in display is no big deal.Abe
December 27, 200520 yr John, one more thing. In addition to FS9 I am a great user for video capture. I usually download the full Catalyst(the driver and catalyst combined). This time, I downoaded the catalyst and the driver individually. Lo and behold I lost my video capture capability. What I did. 1. I uninstalled cat 5.132. Reinstalled 5.9(full)3. Made sure the video capture driver was working.4. Without uninstalling, I reinstalled the 5.13 cat.5. Now I have a combo. (5.9 driver and 5.13 catalyst-a good marriage so far(LOL).Everything is ok now.My question is this. Is it true that the Full catalyst file contains the video capture file(I believe it's called 'WDM'?Thanks again.Abe

January 3, 200620 yr >I used to notice flashing polygons around high-density scenery>areas with AAA on, but this seems to have diminished with each>new version.>>Cheers,>PaulHave the very same problem with flashing poylgons with AAA enabled (eg Flightzone's Rhode Island scenery). Has anybody figured out how to solve that?Roland
January 3, 200620 yr First things first. :-) Thanks to Jaap for pointing out the registry hack for enabling the AAA function in CCC. For anyone who wishes to check the registry, this article explains how (as well as how AAA works).FYI the latest NGO Optimized drivers (atiodngov 1513 available at Guru3D) have the ATI Tray Tool tweaker that will allow for enabling AAA (Performance or Quality). However, one must follow the registry hack instructions in the Elite######s article in order to enable the function in ATI Tray Tools.Roland, I noticed a difference with the 5.13 drivers (NGO) on my 850 XT/PE. AAA set to Quality with them looks even better to my eyes than earlier versions of Omega's drivers. AAA Performance looks about the same as earlier Omega's. YMMVGreg
January 4, 200620 yr Hi Greg, hope you're doing well. :-) And thanks for the thanks. First of all, I'ld like to mention that the ASTT_NA regtweak is not my find. The first pointer in this direction came from Anthony alias Fox450. Anthony, case you read this, many thanks. All in all, the regtweak seems much more convenient than dropping those DX-override files (which might cause unforseeable side effects?). I've also - occasionally - observed scenery flashing. However, on my end this is very brief, goes away after a couple of flashes and most important, doesn't re-happen. 'Occasionally' signifies roughly 1 out of 10 times I boot the sim. And nevertheless, I also wonder what it is? Interesting article, Greg. Specially seeing the minor performance impact @ 4xAA. I guess those numbers also apply to FS even though the framerate doesn't seem to change with AAA on my end... HST, the b.m. observation could lead to the question to which extent we're CPU limited? :-) Cheers, good luck and kind regards Jaap
January 5, 200620 yr Hi Jaap,Actually the reg tweak is pretty easy to do, but for those of us always looking for an easier way there is ATI Tray Tools. Available at Guru3D.To do the deed all one need do is click on "Advanced Tweaks", open the drop down menu at the top to click on "New AA and AF Methods", and then make sure "Disable support for Adaptive AA" and "Disable support for High Quality AF" are unchecked. This will bring the features up in the main D3D Settings page, where both features can be "checked" ON.Greg
