January 12, 200620 yr Earlier this morning, I tried to fly a FSEconomy assignment, but ran into problems with my throttle quadrant... Previous flight (in a different FS session) went without a hitch.... Now, FS9 fails to recognize the #2 and #5 levers. (2nd from left and 2nd from right). I recalibrated it, and they work fine. When I went to change the assignments, FS9 recognized it and assigned it to the proper control, but once back in the sim, that throttle/prop/mixture lever corresponding to each of the #2 and #5 levers sit at about 40% and do not move with the controls. All the other levers respond properly. Started off being a non-responsive #2 throttle (when levers #1 and #2 were the throttles), and when I switched the 2 throttle levers for the 2 prop levers, both throttles worked fine, and only the #1 prop lever would move and #2 was stuck at 40% (but could drag the handle with the mouse.Tried rebooting, tried unplugging and replugging and running cmstart.exe several times, and still doesn't fix it....Any ideas? January 12, 200620 yr Do you have a paid version of FSUIPC?The CH throttle gave me the most grief of all CH products (Actually the others work with hardly any trouble). But with FSUIPC, I have the CH throttles working pretty good. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
January 13, 200620 yr When caliberating using the FSUIPC, you would notice numbers changing as you move the throttles. Thats the number you would set for Full, Reverse thrust etc...Do these numbers increase and decrease as you move the Second level (Throttle 2)? If they don't, then you Ch throttle may be faulty. January 13, 200620 yr Author Well, I know the throttle is not faulty, because all the sliders move in the Windows calibration/test control panel for the throttle quadrant. It calibrates fine. The numbers and indicators move perfectly with the handle... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 13, 200620 yr Author Ok, after deleting fs9.cfg and letting FS build a new one, all works fine again. :) So, it appears it was just something broken in fs9.cfg..... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 13, 200620 yr What a Friday the 13, My CH Throttle is doing the exact same thing today.Everything works fine except the Throttle , Prop and Mixture leavers.Like you they calibrate fine but show no movement in FSUIPC.If I simply delete the FS9.cfg will it rebuild itself.Alhttp://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif
January 13, 200620 yr Author yes fs9.cfg will automatically rebuild itself the next time you run FS9....However, I'd actually rename the fs9.cfg file to some other name (like fs9-backup.cfg) rather than delete it, so you can reference it to put back anything like the (oldmodules) section.... Of course, you'll also need to reset all your display and other settings because everything will return to default.... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 13, 200620 yr Thanks I did it and all works perfect now.Just some studering when in spot view I have to fix.Once I move my POV everything starts shuttering on me.ALhttp://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif
January 14, 200620 yr Hi StoneC0ld,With the CH Quad, the first thing to check if it happens again is the Sensitivity and Deadzone settings in Flight Simulator for the Throttle Quad. Anything that does a "Resest Defaults" will set them incorrectly since FS doesn't recognize the Quad by name. It treats it as a 4-axis stick. Usually you end up with low sensitivity on the first 3 axes, the 4th and 6th axes end up okay, and the 5th axes won't work at all (because it gets a zero sensitivity setting from FS). In the Sensitivity and Null Zone dialog in FS, make sure all six Sensitivity sliders are fully right and all 6 Null Zone sliders are fully left. You can only see three at a time, but there are some (not too obvious) scroll bars that will get you to the other 3.Another point that can help with tracking if you're using the Windows drivers. Windows thinks the two left levers are an X/Y joystick handle and it will ask you to center them. Move them to the middle position when that happens. The position isn't too critical but do make sure they are aligned with each other. Windows sets a calibration point wherever the levers are and if they aren't even they probably wont track as well as they might since they'll come to that center calibration point at different lever positions. If you need the first two levers to track with the other 4 levers, you may need to experiment with that center position a little since the other 4 axes do not have a calibrated center position.Anyway, some things that might be helpful in the future.Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
January 18, 200620 yr Good info!! I have the same problems with levers 2 and 5....did not know there were sliders for last three axis, will try again to find them, wish this info was avail from CH hanger!! RRL
January 18, 200620 yr Author Well, I hadn't had any problems until that day I posted that message.... And apparently it was something in fs9.cfg because a fresh .cfg file fixed it.... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 19, 200620 yr Author Well, of course, Murphy strikes again..... No sooner had I posted that last message, I had to delete my fs9.cfg again for the same problem...... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 19, 200620 yr Yup.. Would you know it. I had the same problem today..and I forgot about the "sensitivity" issue... and I was puzzled...and while searching for it.. I found your Message here http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...hlight=throttle:)This is more than a coincidence. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
