Maybe DX10 is the holy grail for FSX?

Featured Replies

Fact is DX-10 is supposed to take much of the graphics load OFF of the CPU.If so, it has to help.

Here we go again :)Quote from Tdragger a few months ago:"It's just that the issue has caused so much confusion over the past few months I wince when I see DX10 used. Wink Truth is we designed FSX for DX9 'cause that's all we had to work with. When DX10 cards are ready only then will be *start* thinking about what to do with them.";)

How are the AI planes, auto gen, and flight physics in Crysis?Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi,Where in the press release does it state that FSX is a DX title?Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I mentioned "environment" features! AI planes, auto gen, and flight physics are specific to flight sim.

I was just about to say the same thing :-)It's a shame there's so much wishfull thinking going on. A little logic does a world of good here. FSX development process finished about a year ago; beta testing fixed a few things and MS actually removed some features. Now if they were working on this 2 and 3 years ago, who in their right mind can possibly think it was developed for DX10? Especially when the developers themselves openly state that it wasn't!Most people that bought a decent PC in the last 6 months are enjoying FSX as it is. We all know it'll get better, both with the performance patch being worked at the moment and with the DX10 update that'll follow later. It's been pointed out time and again that each new release of FS taxes the best hardwear and it's only now (with a 4 month old PC) that I can use FS9 with absolutely everything set to the right. And no it doesn't have a DX10 card and I doubt I'll be buying one in the next year or so either.Oh well, another 3 years and it'll all be said yet again.....by which time I really do hope that bloody frame rate counter has been removed.:-roll

I think that may have been the point Jim was trying to make :-)
