DX10 teaser

Er... this is VERY OLD news, but well, who knows, maybe more people haven't seen it yet. ;) The DX10 demo can also be downloaded. It didn't run too good on my brand new computer (E6600, 2 Gb ram, 8800GTX): as soon as I started two waterfalls fps became low... And more waterfalls made it a slideshow. If THIS is all that DX10 can offer we are lost... I mean, this isn't even a GAME with AI! Only a rock-like-tree-thing with waterfalls, and if THAT already brings my computer to its knees... :s I remember being VERY disappointed because I expected supersmooth graphics... ;(

What you're seeing is an effects showcase. Games developers won't overload their programs with effects in the way nVidia demos are.Incidentally, I have the same set-up as you, running on Vista 32, and the waterfall demo runs well enough in 1920x1200.

I havent seen that....wow...the lady was very realistic.....and that waterfall....whew awesome!

It would be awesome if we could forever have "the jaggies" and "shimmer" eliminated from FS once and for all.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case

Those demos are designed to tax graphics cards, so there is no surprise the DX10 demo runs a lower frame rate, and its not indicative of how games utilizing DX10 will perform. As to the jaggies, they can easily be eliminated with high resolutions and antialiasing. I haven
