November 30, 200718 yr I have a 32" monitor that has a very good picture. All I know is that I set my resolution to 1360x768x32 which is fine. Is there any settings I can work with to get the ultimate from this monitor other than just setting the resolution?Tim
December 7, 200718 yr Whatever the native (maximum) resolution of your monitor is, that is what you set it at. At 32 bit color.60 Hz refresh, if it is an LCD panel.Apart from that, use the on-screen controls to set Brightness, Contrast, and Color temperature to your liking. Bert
December 9, 200718 yr Bert. I was talking to my computer man the other day asking him about other than this subject and he says.........Ya know what you really need is this new monitor out that is the best one out on the market. "a VIEWSONIC.COM 1920x1080 resolution part nbr N4285P" He say's to me it'll blow you away. That was the wrong thing he had tell tell a addicted simmer. I went for it. He installed it,went into fs9 and he syas what a great picture.(Bert....in 2004 jan 3 I first started with a 15" low scale computer and this picture he says with the new monitor that's he thinke is so great isn't as good as my first low grade computer. He told me in the begining resolution was 1920x1080. Then he comes here and all I have is 1680x1050 60 GHZ.Do I just have to change some settings in CFG file? I noted on the forum that fellows are installing 1920x1080.I had a very beutiful picture on my other monitor, but always want better. right now I have the poorest picture I ever had. By the way ,this new monitor is a 42". To say The least my feeling are very hurt after being told I'm getting the best monitor out there. I hope you will give me some direction.Tim:*
December 10, 200718 yr What you have there is an 42" 1080P HDTV. The supported PC resolutions per the spec sheet for the N4285P are as follows:COMPATIBILITY PC 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x720, 1280x768,1280x1024, 1360x768, 1440x900, 1680x1050Unfortunately, 1680X1050 is the maximum resolution you are going to attain and there is nothing you can do in your .cfg file to increase it. It's the limitation of this particular HDTV when used as a monitor. If he mislead you in the purchase, I would definitely be trying to return it for a refund and go for something else. LCD HDTVs and LCD Displays/Monitors are not one in the same.
December 11, 200718 yr Hello TimThat is not a monitor it is a TV with very limited resolution of 1680x1050 for its size.1920x1080 is a suitable resolution for a 22" or 24" computer LCD monitor1920x1080 is still going to be blocky on a 42" TVhttp://www.freewebs.com/reading1871/30.jpg
December 11, 200718 yr Hi. Thanks for your input. I brought everything to his attention. He says he's going to change me over to get the 1920x1080 by change to a DVI cable. He says he talked to Nvidea about the situation and they gave him a program download to perform. He's coming over tomorow nite. I'm also getting the dual 8800GTX and ram water cooled and overclocked. I tend to agree with what your saying. I've done some tweaking in CFG file and have a pretty good picture. Before this monitor I had a 32" Seinex with a 1360x768x32 resolution which had a wonderful picture. I know what you mean(Ithink) by blocky as my shorelines show some squares. The guys trying everything (it seems) to make things rite. He says if I'm not happy he'll do something else. Regards Tim :(
