Is the 8800GT the only 8800 with bad problems?

Featured Replies

I ask because I'm on the point of getting an 8800GTS 512mb, and could do without the heap of hassles GT owners are having ...

Again, I'll I've heard is good things about the 8800GT, most of the problems are people not uninstalling previous drivers properly....That said, the 8800GTS 512 is a nice card, but you pay a little more for not much more performance....

Agreed, mine is running great.I have a couple anomalies like the 'tool tip' fonts being chunky and unreadable within the VC, but that only happens on early 'ported'/patched FS9 aircraft within FSX. None of my newer aircraft exhibit this issue, and seems to be related to the design resolution of the original panel/panel .bmp's. I also have no reason to believe that is only an 8800GT issue, but one of nvidia across the board. That seems to be my only issue, but surely not a 'show stopper'.

You lucky people! Have a look at the Nvidia forum ...

Why? We are not having problems.I've even installed the latest beta driver, and again, no issues except the one I already mentioned.

Just a question. No problems in DX9 or no problems in DX10?I have no issues in DX9 mode, and DX10 has issues with z-buffer taxiway textures and point light sources vanishing.

I'm still using XP, but I would have to say the majority of the DX10 issues (I've read about) within FSX are more FSX issues than nvidia's.That is why it is called a 'preview'.

Agreed, but I'm puzzled as to why ATI pilots report no such issues on their DX10 gear...Perhaps it's just the old luck of the draw...

But we are talking about 8800GT (so called) issues here. Do these issues only pertain to the 8800GT?

To date, I have had zero problems with my GT.

I have the 8800GT SSC 700/2000 MHz clocks and to date (from the end of December) I haven't has a single issue other than heat which I took care of with a Duorb cooler. 169.09 drivers from end of December as well. It's been a great card; a lot of problems people were having were heat-related.

It's great that you guys have had no problems, but I must admit to being surprised. The forums have been flooded with complaints that recent Nvidia drivers screw up AA in 8800 cards, and reports that the only remedy is a third-party program, Nhancer. I wonder what drivers you use?
