March 28, 200818 yr Just ran across the following article. See? You weren't wrong when you thought your display drivers were causing FSX to crash and cause other abnomalies....http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080...ia-drivers.htmlCiao,Jim
March 28, 200818 yr but you were wrong to blame those buggy drivers on Microsoft...And you were also wrong to blame FSX for your buggy drivers...
March 28, 200818 yr Yep saw that to not really shocking as anyone whos used Nv under vista knows that Nv's driver support has been a joke snice day one(it still is if you ask me),you can also blame them for the lackluster gains we see under DX10 as an API as full driver virtualistion had to be pulled from DX10/Vista just because they just couldnt get it working,ATI on the other hand had no such problems but M$ decided to pull it because of Nv's market share...IMO there almost as bad as creative fat and lazy, nextgen im going back to ATI even if there slower Nv will never darken any of my systems again(chipset or gfx)
March 28, 200818 yr Actually, the real story is how MS lowered Vista requirements at the pressure of Intel http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080...soft-bends.htmlWhich goes hand in had with why AMD runs worse than Intel on the Vista OS (story in itself) and a lot of other fodder about the entire situation I will leave alone in a public forum. I meet up from time to time on Friday nights with one of the honcho's of Vista development down at a little pub in Kirkland, WA .. after a few snorts I hear it all, and it ain't pretty, but it's downright hillarious LOL!!

They drink too? Now that's scary! LOLActually, reading those articles was very depressing. I can see y they might drink... The only thing I see impressive with Nvidia anymore is their GPU's, like the 8800GTX w/768MB memory (mine). Looks powerful, mean, pretty and something to impress the girls with (I got two to really impress...). But, like those who drink at that little pub on Friday nights, you've gotta have good drivers to get the best possible experience and, unfortunately, Nvidia failed miserably when Vista first came out and, IMHO, still has a long way to go (at least for FSX). It's going to be difficult for me to stay with Nvidia when it's time to get a new system.Best regards,JimP.S. Did I say the drivers are still buggy?

March 28, 200818 yr Ya gotta remember that MS changes whatever they want and the rest of the world has to suffer with the consequences.

I remember when my 9700 Pro was riddled with driver problems and it was such a relief to move to a 6800GT, which NEVER had ANY driver issues with FS or any of a number of other games n sims. When my 6800GT died (overclocked it all the time and eventually the hardware died) I changed to an ATI x1900 Pro AGP x8. Image quality was better, slightly over my current, but drivers seemed to interact in a little more burdensome way with XP than nV drivers do. I remember there was some extra wait time during boot up, and when you launched the ATI control panel it would take many more seconds to load that with nV driver control panel in XP. nV drivers for this 8800GT are perfect. But then again, I don't use Vista or FSX yet.QX9650 w/ Retail HSF|8GB Muskin PC-6400|ASUS P5E|EVGA 8800GT @700|Seagate SATA 2 x 4|Seagate Cheetah 15K.x|XP Pro|Vista 64--soon to be installed Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
