System update to 64 bit vista -

Featured Replies

Hello,You all helped me update my system. Works great now. Where do I go to get an update to 64 bit VISTA? About how much??Thanks in advance,Ron Sagel

There are so many options depending on your current system, hardware, etc., etc., that it's best that you just visit this link and read the option best suited for your situation:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932795Best regards,Jim

Ron,I don't think you can update from Vista 32 to Vista 64. At least I could not. Clean install required (and well worth it)

I installed (clean install) on another partition, keeping my original Vista32 intact. Get the freeware BCD (?) to help with the dual boot or triple boot in my case as I also still have an old XP32 partition that I use for untransferable things.... You get authorisation using the same key from your Vista DVD, although I found it better to submit the key AFTER installing Vista64

>I was under the impression that it was impossible to do>multiple boots between XP, Vista 32 Vista64 on the same root>drive??It's perfectly possible, as long as the drive is partitioned and you install each OS on its own partition it is not a problem.

It depends on the sequenceI had Vista32Installed XP32 which then required a FIX from Vista32 DVD meaning the boot sector replaced (destroyed by XP) which is why you then need the BCDedit thing. After these 2 Vista64 was a breeze and fit right in without interventions. Now, since everything except my printer works as before in Vista64, that is now my most frequented OS. It seems smoother.

Thanks, Peppy. I knew I'd read about a snag about it somewhere before.
