For me, developing AFCADs is a ton of fun. But I feel that I don't get any recognition and so I look forward to the day when I see a thread that says: 'this is a great airport, thanks Ken!' It will probably never happen, but for those of you who develop have you received any recognition for your work and if so, what? I'm interested in seeing the results of this minor survey. Thanks!:-jumpy---------------------Kenneth Weikfly-twva.com [email protected] DFW SAN LAX HPN RDG ORD TUL IND LIH OGG JAC MDT + JFK (construction)http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...Weik&CatID=root

Ken,I have received a few e-mails of thanks for my XML sound gauge and the Carrier Operations package that Rob Barendregt and I developed. I would guess 30 or so between the two. While that doesn't seem like many, given that the carrier ops package has on the order of 10,000 downloads between here and flightsim.com, it is 25~30 more than I expected...You do also occasionally see a discussion thread that makes your day:http://www.sim-outhouse.com/forums/showthr...15&pagenumber=1I should note that both of these projects were chosen on the basis of perceived need, rather than just personal interest.Doug Dawson

Hi Kenneth, for 'GA-Traffic' I got big response, after the Beta release. But I force the response too. I open discussion threads on many places to get a wide feedback. I also wrote to the staff of avsim and asked if they will do a review. For 'GA-Traffic' several people said that they would pay for it and a few have ask where to send the money for. But other programs and tools I made didn't get a great response. The 'AIContrails' and 'FreeMetar' didn't get that much response.Maybe we got more response if we continue demanding it?

Hello Kenneth,Don't exspect much. I am offering for years a very valuable freeware program in the CAD business on the net and I receive seldom some response, even seldom negative response and I know that it is downloaded about 120 times in a week from one site in France alone (from this site I receive a weekly statistic) and you can download the application from hundreds of sites or they have a link to it (hint try: "2D CAD" in Google) . So freeware writers can only guess, users don't care: if the add-on is perfect, users are thinking that the author doesn't care because it is for free. If the add-on doesn't fulfills the exspectations of the user, he will download an other. Who cares, it was for free, no?Regards,Hugo

I think that the opportunity makes the difference. Sometime what I think is a good addon doesn't get any response at all. From my list I can see only 3 that got a great answer: PPP since is the only quality freeware scenery for my country, FSacars since it gives a complete free solution for a VA and AIBridge since it was innovative at the time. The other get medium responses or even none.Jos

Hey Doug ....On the Forums again ?? Now the next step again :-) ....And to Ken:I have simular experiances as Doug..Not only on that package, but also on other stuff I made (like my Groundhandling gauges). I do get lots of mails, but, besides "Thank you" 's, they are usually accompanied by a question :-).But it also depends a bit on the subject I guess; Two years ago I published some articles on HowTo make rudder pedals and a Throttle quadrant. Those generated much more response, even today.I've got 100+ pictures of home-made stuff to prove that ...Cheers, Rob Barendregt
