January 23, 200917 yr . . . I'm surprised you prefer a single throttle control to individual ones. Of course if you only fly single-engine aircraft there would be no gain with a throttle quadrant. Otherwise I find multiple throttle controls a big improvement. Heck, one day I might even be able to turn a corner using differential thrust alone! :(?? I'm confused -- I DO have two to four throttle controls (depending on the A/C, of course) mapped on the CH using FSUIPC. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. January 24, 200917 yr Ark,Out of interest what are you using for throttle control? The single lever on the yoke or do you have a Pro Throttle or perhaps a separate quadrant?Apart from the smoother elevator control with the Saitek the other major bonus has been the ability to separately control up to four engines with the throttle quadrants. That allows for much finer control of ground speed than was possible with the Pro Throttle.Ultimately it was the price of the Eclipse I felt was excessive. Dollars get a straight conversion to pounds over here and paying over 200GBP for the yoke was a non-starter for me and many others I suspect. Saitek yokes were flying off the shelves when I bought mine at a FS show in the UK and CH was hardly to be seen on setups.Hello Ray,I tried both the Saitek throttle that came with the unit as well as the CH Pro Throttle.Ironically, one of the biggest things that deterred me from keeping the Saitek unit was how "not smooth" the elevator was. This Eclipse has elevator and aileron movement is like melted butter. I actually thought it was almsot too smooth at first. lol The absolute biggest issue I had was how I had to delete a line in the registry and re-calibrate every time I started my computer. While not difficult to do, it seemed rather silly all things considered. The price is definately up there, and IMO, a little excessive considering the Saitek gives you a seperate thottle quadrant for $50 less. I already had a CH Pro Throttle and usually the biggest aircraft I fly is a regional jet or GA aircraft. I may pick up the CH Throttle Quadrant i the future though. January 24, 200917 yr Well, I got my Saitek tonight and it installed with absolutely no problems -- this is in direct opposition to my first two experiences when the model first came out, so either Saitek is getting better or I am. :( My CH throttle quad works fine and was unaffected by the new hardware. I'm on my third flight now, EGLL to KBOS - and there's no apparent phantom view switching going on yet.The very first thing I noticed was exactly what Arklight1 posted about -- the odd hesitation point intentially built into the elevator movement, and how unsmooth it actually felt. I then noticed that I had lost a few switches -- even those ugly paddle like switches that CH uses (when did that design become a good idea??) were handy and I didn't think I needed them all, but it's turning out to be rather inconvenient.Right now I really can't decide. I'm going to use the Saitek at least through tomorrow and then probably decide by Sunday night, but I think I'm leaning more toward going back to the CH Eclipse at this point. I think I'm a little surprised by that. Smooth Skies! -- Chuck B. While not difficult to do, it seemed rather silly all things considered.Hi Ark,If you're having to edit the Registry every time you start the PC that is definitely not right. I made a one-off change to delete the entries for the 2nd quadrant (the first was fine) in order to stop the axes working as on/off switches rather than proper gradual axes. But as you prefer the CH kit it's irrelevant anyway. January 26, 200917 yr Well, I flew with it all weekend and Saitek Yoke No. 3 is back in the box and ready for return to Amazon.com. There simply is no comparison between the axes movement on it and the movement of the Eclipse -- I couldn't believe it, but having both products here for "side by side" usage comparison really pointed up the superiority of the CH. Maybe the extra money you have to pay for the CH yoke IS a direct result to superior workmanship, and not a matter of "panic marketing" as I had previously suspected. :( All I know is someone else on this thread called the movement of the new CH Eclipse like butter -- and that's exactly how smooth it is. March 6, 200917 yr Guys,I am just about to get a new yoke, my old CH pro yoke USB is so worn out and it "sticks", and I hate it.I've been looking into some more expensive stuff, such as the yokes from PFC. But just today I discovered that there is a new yoke from CH, the Eclipse.Only Dale so far has commented here something negative about it. And just the thing that I hate: the elevator movement "sticks".Could someone who previously owned and used the CH yoke USB and now flies the Eclipse please compare the smoothness of the controls between these two yokes? I am also very interested in the spring feel in both elevator and aileron axises. Whether the spring still keeps noise when moved to the extremes etc. etc.All comments welcome. CH promises on their promo page about the Eclipse a "free floating, non-binding shaft". Is there any credibility to these praises, or is it just something that you could've just as well have attached to the older yoke ad, ie. the same quality and still sticking shaft?rgds,Tero PPL(A)

I'm very happy with my new Eclipse -- and will be keeping it. Do yourself a favor: Buy the Eclipse from a place with a good return policy like Amazon.com (don't be cheap for the sake of 10 or 15 bucks!), try it out for 10 days and if you don't like it, return it.I didn't think I would like it and I've been pleasantly surprised -- and at about 1/2 the price of those "more expensive" yokes.
