I can get rid of SP2 from the 'add remove' programs but not SP1. Rather than remove SP2, why not find out why it's performing poorly now? There must be a proximate cause that could be resolved with a bit more effort... :(

Just put in the original Disk and select "repair" when prompted. It should return FSX back to the original.Jim

In order to install SP2 you must have SP1 installed. Acceleration can be installed into a clean FSX install or an FSX SP1 install.

Something is really wrong here, because performance should improve with SP1 and SP2... Did you try deleting the FSX.CFG? When you do that a new cfg will be created when you start FSX. Let's see what that does. My system is a bit slower than yours, but I wouldn't have the performance I am having now without SP1 and SP2...! Besides that, lots of addons require SP2...

Did you defrag after your installs? I've found performance really suffers if you don't do this after the initial installation(s).
