Adjusting engine sounds help

Ok its me again, The guy that shows you what the problem is instead of writing it. please watch the video

I don't know, unless the logic of how the sound is played in the PMDG 737 prevents what you're trying to do. I only know the sounds have to be in a certain format to work properly in the sim. I've changeed a few sounds in sim and they worked fine, regardless of length, but never a start-up sound.

Hi Mate !I'm not sure if you are the right persone to address this, but I'm having the problems with 747 FSX sound files as well, in fact I can't hear any engine star up sound and no crew talking loud enough. I have no way to adgust the volume also. There is a sound knob from the menue, but it gives me strange noise up/down, blocking everything in cockpit.May be 747 is different form yours 737, but problem still there.

Dimaleo no need to hijack the thread just create your own.Steve, not sure what the start logic is like on the PMDG 737 does it have autostart? the sound normaly transitions to the next wav file when fuel is fed to the engines.Rob

Steve there are replacement sounds for the pmdg 737 on avsim library. Search there and you shall find :( I don't remember who did them but they are very good apparently.John Ellison

Thanks for replying rob, so what your saying is that the logic might be that once the fuel is fed that the sound file then transitions to the next file playing the full speed of the started engine. yes it has an auto start but i do mot use it. i always start my plane from a cold dark cockpit also using FS2 crew. Now the question is ,do you think there is a way to change the perimeters in the logic to have the file play a little longer to make the sound transition smoother?

Thanks for the reply john but its not the sound file its the way that the logic in the PMDG plays the sound file. The sound file that im referring to I did get from Avsim and its a great sound pack.

OK, MD-11 Too much volume on the flight deck...I am unable to hear ATC out of LAX...I set the 'sound' adjustment in FS2004 according to the PMDG book, and from the PMDG panel settings...Can anyone help me about this issue...The only way I can hear ATC on Vatsim is by jumping out of the airplane....FDX183

I believe the problem is that his fuel cutoff valves are open when he starts then engine which will play another sound once the fuel is introduced (way to early). My guess is that if you turn off the fuel valves, begin the start sequence, and leave the fuel valves closed it will play the entire 44 seconds. If you turn them at on the appropriate time ~22% N2, then it will play the additional 44 seconds plus the high pressure turbine sounds as the engines spool up.There are replacement sounds that are also very good... look for the files by Des Braban in the AVSIM library.

to Clarify for you.the 737 is not equipped with "Autostart" That is a function that automatically feeds fuel to the engine at the appropriate time to run the engine, your engine would be on fire if you tried to start it like in that video. as far as the sounds go, the system *FS9* will switch from the Startup sound, to the Idle sound as soon as the engine "Lights up".to get around this you would need to Cut the first 16-20 seconds of the sound you downloaded and create a sound loop. then in the idle section you would need to put in the other half of that 44 seconds followed by a Fade to the Idle sound, and create a sound Loop around the Idle sound.this will tell FS9 to play the file the first 16 seconds, and loop the spot at that sixteen seconds, then once you add in fuel, it will pull up the "Idle" sound which will have the last 20-30 seconds and play that, untill it reaches the idle sound and then bada boom bada bing.........smooth start sound to idle.Timing it with the PMDG 737's engines, and editing the sound files *This would be for an intermediate level of sound editing* would take a lot of work.

Hi FDX (nice name!),The ATC volume in the FS sound menu can be adjusted to your personal tastes - if its not loud enough just turn it up! For realism the other sliders should be left on 50.Cheers,Armen
