Mytraffic X can it actually improve performence

Featured Replies

MTX has 1900'n something airlines compared to UT2's 900'n something and MTX can run far more traffic at larger airports than UT2 can if you enable the DX10 compatible only schedules, this ensures that no old none FSX SDK models are used, this boosts frame rates even more and ends up with greater numbers of traffic than UT2 does and still gets better frame rates on my system. In short you get better frame rates with MTX and no stutters/pauses while traffic is being injected to the FSX world like you get with UT2. I do like UT2 though, its presented at lot more professionally, many of the models and paints look beatiful up close and I love the real schedules, I still think ultimately I will be going back to MyTraffic X though after the novelty has worn off, better FPS wins nearly every time in my book where AI traffic is concerned.

Cheers, Andy.

Some of the MiL and private models and skins are substandard (DX9 mode?), even with the 5.2 CD purchased direct from the company. Not being an expert, I assume these are FS9 models being used to "fill up" the program. These models and skins are not "brought up to standard", two glaring examples are the FA/18 and F-16, possibly preventing better performance? I'm not sure how DX10 mode alters this. However, My Traffic X has a lot to offer. The program can improve performance in a couple of different ways. Although I see little difference, the users can select performance models for supposedly better performance, or enhanced models for better visuals and less performance. The user can also effect performance by selecting the AI year time period. For instance, choosing the 1965 time period will result in far less traffic, and more FSX performance. My Traffic X 5.2 also installs a folder of airport BGL's, and I assume the BGL's fill up airport parking that normally would not see traffic, which is very cool. There also is an selection for disabling jetways. Sometimes when I think FSX is running smoothly, I'll install various MAIW MiL traffic bgl's as well as WOAI traffic bgl's, as the MAIW military skins and models look great. However now that I've read Andy's post I may try FSX DX10 mode and My Traffic DX10 models to see what happens.

Yes that's right all the MTX military traffic apart from the Chinook and one other aircraft I cant remember the name of are FS9 models so they don't perform as well as FSX equivalent aircraft. Turning on DX10 only schedules removes the poorer performing FS9 models from the world and only uses the true FSX SDK aircraft that also work in DX10 preview mode. Performance from these models is far better and frame rates are excellent. Just to avoid any confusion here these DX10 schedules don't replace FS9 models with FSX models they just remove the FS9 models from the world, while this leaves less types of aircraft to populate the world, there are still more models than included with UT2 as far as I know, and the airports do always look a lot busier with MTX than they do with UT2 even with traffic densities at 100%.

Cheers, Andy.

Also, MTX includes My Traffic Board. This allows you to look at the actual airlines and gates for airports and what their standing is. Are they boarding, what gate etc. Bob G.

So I should count on dropping the military aircrafts in MTX due to performence issues. Regarding DX10 preview. I just tried it since I just got FSX+Acceleration installed. It was the worst I have seen. The whole world was flickering and I saw graphical glitches everywere and nothing seems better in any way. Also as before setting default traffic to 100% turned FSX into badly stuttering experience with single digit fps

You do not need to enable the DX10 preview mode to get the benefit of the FSX SDK models and DX10 schedules. The DX10 schedules cannot allow non FSX SDK aircraft into the world because they don't work properly in DX10 preview mode and usually are either invisible or have major parts missing from them like no wings etc.You do not have to turn the FS9 models off but frame rates will be better if you only use the DX10 schedules, to be honest many of the military models are very toy like and really let MTX down, this is another reason why I only use the DX10 schedules.Military traffic in MTX is being worked on now actually and few new models will be available in the next free update as far as I know which should be some time before the end of the year, I think.

Cheers, Andy.
