June 4, 200917 yr Hi guys, I just installed FSX + Acceleration together with UTX and GEX Enhanced. Everything works fine on my new PC, but I have this perhaps stupid question. How do I know that GEX is successfully installed? I ran the GEX configuration setup and checked all three options and it replaces the default textures and then I close the setup. But if I open the setup again, the three options are again unchecked. If enter FSX there is no way to tell if I see the new textures because I played without GEX very little and I don't remember how it looked. I made a couple of circles around Manhattan before installing GEX but I don't see much difference after I installed it. My graphics settings in FSX are all set to ultra high.
June 4, 200917 yr I think one of the clue that GEX is installed is to look at the "lighted" ground textures (at night) they should look white instead of the default yellowish colour. But you can get better answers from GEX forum:GEX forumNick will give a better answer.Pierre Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E
June 4, 200917 yr Hm, nice addon if you can't really see the difference... :( :( I have to say I gave GEX a try a long time ago and asked for a refund because I coulnd't really see a difference unless I compared screenshots with and without GEX... Unlike FTX, which clearly IS different. My favorite right now is VFR GenX btw which obviously clearly is utterly different! ;)

June 4, 200916 yr Topic was answered in the GEX forum http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=30642user said they have only 3 options and not 4 in the interface which they never answered back about my inquiry into thatmost people who claim they could not see a difference back when GEX was first released was becausea. It was not the enhanced (1.06) and later versions in which a great deal of work was done to upgrade the experience. Current version is 1.08b. Back then there were more people running slower hardware and their systems were not keeping the ground sharp and clear which is still the case today with some systems. http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...D=159399#159399c. A combination of A and B which is what J van E was dealing with back a year and 1/2 ago when he got the F1 refund before the free to GEX users enhanced version and subsequent upgrades were released.. and hes since upgraded his hardware too as I recall. :(
June 4, 200916 yr i was one of those people who questioned Nick because i did not see much of a difference from the default to the GEX textures at first. I do have it, version 1.08 now, and i have to say i can see a difference but some places will be more obvious then others. the night lighting in GEX makes a big difference i think and it does improve both the look of FSX and the FPS as well. once i started flying with it, i knew i was getting a better FSX experience with it then without.

It was helpful. I updated my version to 1.08. Also I put all my graphics sliders to the right :( I restored my original textures to make a comparison and it became obvious that I was in fact using the GEX textures, so problem solved.
