June 12, 200916 yr I don't know. My refresh rate is 85 and I still get only around 12-25 fps with everything maxxed out. (85 is the max my KDS monitor will support).
June 12, 200916 yr I checked my video refresh rate and it was set at 59 MHz. It was then I decide to take a chance and set the rate higher, overriding the default settings to 75 MHz.Hi, If you are talking about the refresh rate of your monitor, mine has only one setting 75MHz. (Samsung SyncMaster 2032) This is also what I set my fps. 75, and I am constantly getting around 40-60 fps. with a comparable old video card.
June 12, 200916 yr Guess I must be missing something. Wanted to give this a try, but the only option I can find for my monitor refresh rate is 60. Panel is Dell 30" widescreen LCD @ 2560x1600x32. Is there some secret to changing the refresh rate or am I just out of luck? Regards, Joe Esposito
June 12, 200916 yr The refresh rate setting of the monitor is a thing of a driver. You could install default windows driver, that might give you other refresh rates. But IMHO, a properly installed system, will not yield more FPS.I think what the host is seeing is something possibly in connection with V-Sync. I am normally getting in my FS9 between 60 and 100+fps, in both windowed and full screen and my refresh is at 60, what my Samsung driver only supports. LCDs have a fixed refresh rate.
June 12, 200916 yr Hi,The default refresh rate for most LCDs is 60. Having it set to 59 was like showing an old time real to real movie and slowing down the front real. The movie would play but just a lot slower.Yep, you sure did open a can of worms with that other post! I had my final say on the matter a long time ago and now I just sit back and read along!!

Control Panel/ Display shows they are all set to 60 Hz refresh. Permissible settings for the KDS CRT (Main monitor) show up to 100Hz. What happens if I increase refresh to say 75 on this monitor only?? [Or perhaps increase all of them to 75 - the permissible settings for the ACER LCD appear to go up to 75 and there seems to be no limit for the IBM LCD.]Alex Reid
June 12, 200916 yr Nothing happens IMO. Refresh rate, if v-sync is off and working normally, has no impact on fps inside a game.
June 12, 200916 yr Word Not Allowed,I don't see your Power Supply brand, or Wattage. If you don't mind saying what you use. Just curious. Thanks.Mark,I am just hanging around, waiting for your LCD to go POOF (but that'a a (dead) horse of a different color). I'll just sit in the corner, quietly observing, if I may.Chuck BNapamule
June 12, 200916 yr Hi All,All monitors get their power from your wall outlet or power strip, not the computer power supply.

June 13, 200916 yr I find if I do not use Vsync I get stutters. With Vsync on the stutters are gone..... Interesting that with higher frames Mark also had stutters.... Al Stiff
June 13, 200916 yr Author Well, I took a flight from KPSP to KSNA and it was crystal clear with no stutters at 60fps. I'm certain the only thing that I changed was the refresh rate but don't want to jinx anything here. FS9 is so tweeked in...I attached a small screen shot in case you want to have a look. It's only 640x400 but it has the fps in the top left corner.Mark
