July 2, 200916 yr Added Ram, was time for 64bit OS, wasn't going to waist time on Vista with the Win7 RC being free. A few days of rolling all the software on, The ram came in today and the FSX install as well...Flew around the Fly Tampa Hong Kong all scenery Settings maxed (haze, lights, traffic etc) And all FSX scenery settings maxed including bloom accept most AI at30- 40% and no scenery shadows, Flew the stock 747 for an hour with all different views...so far Rock solid, no issues. Installing more add-ons, will try Manhattan X and then some long flights and some more challenging aircraft (yet to add). Edit: Have yet to try all the scenery design tools.Anyone else running win7 64bit?All other softawre worx just fine as well, Global Mapper, Photoshop, Illustrator was only problem, just have it work in XP SP3 compatibility mode solved the problem. I think I like this OS!
July 2, 200916 yr Paul, I've been running FS9 and FSX on Windows 7 RC1 for a while now. As you stated, rock solid. Performance wise, it's about on par with XP, but that may change when I can optimize Windows 7 ala Nick_N's recommendations. I'm so happy with W7, I preordered the Home Premium upgrade.

July 2, 200916 yr You are never going to get problems with a default aircraft, try it with a complex aircraft like the PMDG MD11 for more than 10 hours into and out of major 3rd party airports like FSDreamTeam's if you want to do a true stability test. Cheers, Andy.
July 2, 200916 yr Can't remember exactly but I had some issues with the Dreamfleet Dakota and the gauges. The fuel gauges were missing until I turn the lights on, then they magically reappeared.Never had this issue in Vista.

July 2, 200916 yr Commercial Member Anyone else running win7 64bit?Two problems:1) .net pull down menus do not expand correctly on an application running as a window. When the window is full screen, it's fine.2) Random crashes when selecting a menu in FSX, worse with 185 Nivida drivers, better with 182And a third I guess, no discount pre-orders for Europe! Are we being punished for EU rules?RegardsSimon www.supertrafficboard.com
July 2, 200916 yr Works fine here except adding scenery needs a work around, 182.50 drivers.Cant say its any better than my xp 32 install for FSX. Processor: Intel Core i7 [email protected] Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX670 OC RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1866 [9-9-9-24-2T] Motherboard: Asus P8Z68 Pro / Gen 3 Best Ever FSX Tip: Adaptive Vertical Sync 1/2 Refresh Rate
July 2, 200916 yr And a third I guess, no discount pre-orders for Europe! Are we being punished for EU rules? The EU pre-order discounts start on 15.07.09 through to 14.08.09, you will also be able to get full retail versions of W7 for the same price as the upgrade versions because of the Internet Explorer 8 inclusion fiasco, MS won't have an upgrade version available at launch in October so this is the reason for the same price in Europe, it wont last forever though. You are probably right Andy, but wouldn't this be more a test of hardware than the operating system.Anyway I too have been running FSX with W7 successfully with only a couple of very minor os related problems.I had no problems with default aircraft, it wasn't until I installed my MD11 that I started having problems with corrupted sound and CTD's, I ditched W7 a few days later as the performance difference between W7 and my Vista 64 install didn't warrant putting up with the issues I had, that was with beta 2 though, not the RC, I going to wait till release before I start a complete reinstall. Cheers, Andy.

July 2, 200916 yr Like I said from the 15th of July you will be able to pre-order, we aren't there yet :( Ebuyer are selling OEM versions of Vista with a free offer update to W7, but OEM is a dead end product as you probably know, i.e. It's tied to the hardware its first installed on and you need to pay again for another W7 license if your hardware changes significantly enough in the future during an upgrade.http://ebuyer.com/search?q=windows+7&x=0&y=0 Cheers, Andy.

July 2, 200916 yr I've got an ASUS Rampage Formula, but I don't use the supplied PCI-E sound card that came with it, I found the sound quality worse on it than with my old Audigy 2, so I stuck with that. Cheers, Andy.

July 2, 200916 yr Hey Awf, PaulL01 Here. Great to hear guys to busy with development, hope when times allow to test also but it will be at the end of the year :(Will me too sorta, was in the middle of re-doing Monroe county/Rochester NY state in photoreal and PC kept on choking on the larger files durring proccessing. Just taking way too long because of having to swap to file so often. So I was kinds forced to go 64 bit and up the ram. The files are a bit large so that wont go away even if I had 128Gigs of ram, but it should be an improvment. So what you working on? :)
