July 17, 200916 yr These guys, http://www.deltasimstudio.com/ , offer ship models with VC's and they are really good looking, but I would never buy one.Flight sim doesn't model water and driving a boat around in it would, to me, be incredibly pointless. My question is a curious one: Why are there ships/yachts/boats for sale for a flight sim? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 17, 200916 yr Have you tried any of the boats? Have you used them around O'ahu, or the San Francisco Bay area, or the intercoastal waterways of Florida?
July 17, 200916 yr Author Have you tried any of the boats? Have you used them around O'ahu, or the San Francisco Bay area, or the intercoastal waterways of Florida?Nope. Like I said, I wouldn't buy one. Have you? That's why I posted this new thread, to ask why someone would buy one...They're a bit expensive just to cruise aimlessly up and down a water way. To me anyway. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 17, 200916 yr They do and have offered freeware versions. Honolulu (PHNL) offers a water runway to start from. If you have an AI traffic program and crank it up, it gives a different perspective when AI spotting. Same would go for San Francisco and many other locations. And yes, I have used their freeware offerings. Too poor for payware... :(
July 17, 200916 yr i agree too poor for payware so i tried the freeware and other then being painfully slow its model looks very impressive
July 17, 200916 yr IMO real thing much more fun than using FS to go 'boating' --- D. Scobie, feelThere support forum moderator: https://forum.simflight.com/forum/169-feelthere-support-forums/
July 17, 200916 yr Author IMO real thing much more fun than using FS to go 'boating' ---I say the same about the flying. But then flying on the desktop is much less expensive. Take it a step further and boating is generally more affordable than flying. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 17, 200916 yr Some of the boat models aren't bad, they are a good way to explore scenic waterways loije Alaska's inside passage. If you don't want a payware model, you can get some freeware models herehttp://www.fs-shipyards.org/ Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
July 17, 200916 yr I use boats to explore waterfront scenery from time to time. An example would be Victoria+ by Holger Sandmann and Jon Patch. It gives it a different dimension. If I had FSX and the new TongassX I would use a boat there. If I am doing non-FS work on my computer I will sometimes fire up FS on my second monitor, drop a boat somewhere (usually Robert's Mediterranean 180 Motor yacht) and let 'er run across a lake or something. Makes for an interesting screen saver and requires less attention than flying.I also have a container ship named the Bro Caroline that has animated cranes. Try to dock it in the Seattle harbor around the static ships, just something different from time to time.Hama has done quite a few ships also. Search at flightsim.com.Bill Lyons did a sailable sailboat that came with his Cub package, never quite got the hang of it.In some respects FS models water better for boats than planes, IMO.Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
