Princess Julianna defualt textures issue

Featured Replies

today i was doing some flying at TNCM, getting ready to use ADE to change to the new runway numbers, and on one landing looking frm overhead i noticed that i could see what look like photpscenery taxiway's under the FSX taxiways. is everyone seeing that or is it just me? i do not have any scenery for this airport other then the default.i included a photo, it is only 28K but it is a GIF format so i dont know if everyone can open it.thanks, kyle

As far as I understand the situation the whole island of St Maarten is photo scenery in the default installation. There are quite a lot of other areas that got the treatment too, but I don't recall which ones off hand. I remember taking off from KDEN in FS9 with display sliders all the way to the right a while ago, and being surprised to find that it was based on photo scenery. It's been going on for a while, evidently.

thanks Mike for the info. surprised that if that is the case, MS added their scenery over it, why not just use the photo textures? actually i guess after thinking about it, i know why they did but they could have at least lined up everything so the taxiways and other items don't bleed out from the sides like they do.

These are called high-detail airports, and there are high-detail cities as well. You might find this link useful, and each airport mentioned is probably also based off of photoscenery.http://www.simtours.net/highdetailairports.phpBe sure to read the comments as well, as they include some airports not included in the main page.

it may be a high detailed airport, and i can see it is a satellite picture because i can see the construction area where the new terminal is being built. but i dont see any photoscenery textures at other high detail airports. if i go to JFK or BOS i dont see photo textures under the FSX overlayed taxiways and such. this just looks sloppy. i may have to fix this in ADE, and change the runways #'s to the new ones while i am at it.

If you really like flying into and around St. Maarten, you may want to consider buying the St. Maarten package from FlyTampa. The full package includes the island of St. Maarteen, St. Barts, and Saba. It's one of the best scenery packages I have ever bought. Here's the link: http://www.flytampa.org/index.html

Yeah I agree. It was the first airport I bought from FlyTampa for FS9 or FSX. To this day it think it is still my overall favorite addon scenery. Their Kai Tak looks pretty nice as well, but I haven't purchased it yet.
