July 22, 200916 yr Commercial Member Hey everyone,I'm currently designing a 2D panel for the McDonnell-Douglas DC-10. I have been looking for a font that is used on almost everything in the panel. Currently, the closest I've been able to find to this has been 'Arial Narrow' but it just isn't the same.Yes, I can probably use photos and crop out the text but I see that taking way more time obviously than if the actual 'font' were available for my use. Here is a picture example of the text I am trying to re-create, and thank you for any help! :- Kyle Best Regards,Kyle SchurbDeveloper of Virtual Cockpits, Sceneries, and Liveries. July 22, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hmm, I appreciate the reply, but after much more extensive searching, I found out that it was basically only a mechnical 'stencil' and (apparently) there has yet to be a digital font made to represent it, but I found out the actual font was named 'Gorton'.After even more searching I found that there was a very close font named 'Technic' that is almost identical to Gorton that is available in .ttf format. :) Best Regards,Kyle SchurbDeveloper of Virtual Cockpits, Sceneries, and Liveries. July 23, 200916 yr Commercial Member I might be off, but from my experience Verdana is the closest one. Good Day, Engjell Berisha
July 23, 200916 yr Moderator I might be off, but from my experience Verdana is the closest one.You could probably get by with it, but a close look at the actual picture will show that the open ends of the strokes and the angles are rounded:Here is a quick test I did using the AG Book Rounded Medium font: Fr. July 23, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Hmm, close but I still think 'Technic' is the closest. It could use with a bit more boldness which is easy to do in Photoshop, but I've been typing the letters onto my panel how I see them in the reference photos I have and I'm satisfied with how they've been turning out! :) : Best Regards,Kyle SchurbDeveloper of Virtual Cockpits, Sceneries, and Liveries. The spacing of the U in FUEL and the V in VAPOR ideally need a little adjustment. Gerry Howard
July 23, 200916 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks, I'm finding I have to do that quite a bit throughout the panel, just a simple Alt+Arrow Key gets the job done. Best Regards,Kyle SchurbDeveloper of Virtual Cockpits, Sceneries, and Liveries. Instrument-Rated Commercial Pilot AMEL, CFI/CFII/MEI
