Igor Suprunov's Yak-40

Featured Replies

Anyone managed to get more than engine no.1 engine throttles to work? :( Followed the manual and cannot taxi with just one engine even though all three engines are running. I have already tried the 'E+1+2+3' move to no avail.

Yup, I have it working. You have to keep in mind though that the Supranov Yak-40 is an incredibly complex add-on (easily a contender for the best FS9 add-on and right up there with PMDG and all the other greats such as the Aeroworx King Air). But that means that it is certainly no Control+E merchant, and you will have to read the manual. It a complex thing - what other add-on has three separate electrical systems modeled!!? Even the flaps are different on the thing, being multi position with a motor rather than in set stages. I love it to bits and wish there was one for FSX (apparently on the way at some point), but it requires no less investment in time with the manuals than would the PMDG 747 to get the best out of it. Fortunately, the manual is bloody marvelous too.One of my personal favourites for sure.Al

Chock,The manual refers to 'CTRL+E' quote; Autostart. Custom programmed procedure forquick start (save 30 min of cockpit time).Triggers correct procedures in order as requiredto fire up all systems and engines. One assumes that if this is possible, then it should give all three throttles useage but it doesen't? Are you saying that the manual is wrong then?A more constructive answer would have been appreciated rather than an "Oh it works for me" comment?

And it's bloody cheap too. Honestly, I have been holding off buying this addon because I want to get some other stuff too that is more expensive. Reading your post, though, you think I should just go ahead and buy it?

Whoa, hang on a minute, you started your original post with the question of whether anyone has managed to get it working, I said yes, and now you have a pop at me for answering with that, saying I'm not being constructive?I answered your question and added that it is worth doing things 'the long way' by reading the manual, which was effectively advice to not use the 'quick start'. But frankly, if you are going to have that attitude, then to be brutally honest, I'm inclined to let you figure it out for yourself.Al

It seems you have an isolated problem.Have you tried actually contacting Supronov Designs, whom you presumably bought it from? That would be constructive... :( [email protected] *without the dashes*.

Try this:First note that there are two aircraft in the package, a 'lite' version and a 'full-on complex as hell' version. Make sure you load up the 'lite' one. When it loads, wait for everything to settle down and go to the VC.Hit Control+E.You should see two of the engines fire up. The third one you usually have to fire up manually. If that has happened when you hit Control+E, it will be apparent, as the centre engine dials will not all be operating, only the left and the middle one. which means you'll have to light number three yourself. So...This time hit E+3 on your keyboard and then hit Control+E and it should fire up number 3.Last, hit E and 1, 2, 3 in rapid succession so that you have all three engines selected so that your throttle will control all the engines. All engines should now be running and the systems should be ready to rock. You can confirm that by observing that all three red lights are extinguished on the copilot's panel.Knock the parking brake off. Take off. Fly etc.If you load the 'full-on' version, it does not like doing a Control+E start. And that's when you have to read the manual. If the sequence I listed does not work, something is amiss, so try loading a Cessna first and shutting everything down, then loading the 'lite' Yak-40.Al

RTFM also might help :( Great aircraft!! No issues this side except a few CTD's when changing views from inside to outside and then changing the angle without waiting for the textures to load fully. No biggie though

Hi Al, thanks for your help. I have contacted Igor on this and he suggested I was using multi throttles hardware and I am not. I am using the 'Saitek Cyborg Evo' which just has the one throttle.I have gone right through the manual today and even tried to advance the throttles using the 'F' keys on the keyboard but still only one throttle works?Last night I reset the flight after getting the engines running and just one throttle and when it came back I had all throttles working for a while :( Started again today and its back to one again. The E+1.2.3. key move is considered a 'Bug' by Igor and he advised me not to use it. I did though and it didn't change anything. :(I have tried 1, 2, 3, and 4 engined planes in my hanger and they are working perfectly.Igor says, he has never heard of this happening before so it seems that the problem is deeper than I can understand. Maybe someone else can shine a light on this?P.S. I was using the 'Lite' version too

I use the Saitek Cyborg EVO too (i.e the awful looking one that looks like it belongs in a space fighter with all the red F numbers and the blue light up on the top where it has EVO on it). I've really not had any problems relating to the stick though, so that is surprising. If you have FSUIPC (registered version) you could try assigning keys to stuff, which normally gets around hardware issues, but I've certainly not had to do that on the Yak or with my EVO stick (isn't that the name of some glue?), which is just as well since I only have a registered FSUIPC for FSX. In fact never even bothered to install the Saitek drivers, just plugged it into a USB port and left it at that and it works fine, although I do have the Saitek rudder pedals plugged in too, but I seriously doubt that is affecting anything. As I say, I can load up a Cessna, switch everything off and then load up the Yak and it works as I noted above (with that start glitch on number 3 engine when doing Control+E start on the 'lite' version which you can manually fire up), so I really don't know what else to suggest other than working your way through the 'full-on' version and seeing if anything crops up during the start up process. Or...I know it's often a bit of a cop out when people say 'have you tried reinstalling FS?', but in all honesty, I would be inclined to try that (you could do a basic install on a second drive to test the theory, instead of wiping your main install). To give you an example of where that worked for me, I could not get either the CS 757 or the CS radar to install in FSX properly, and everything else worked fine in it, so I was totally convinced the issue was with those CS add-ons, but eventually I gave in and reinstalled FSX, and lo and behold, the CS 757 and the CS radar installed no problem, so I do know that even apparently trouble free installs of FS can sometimes prevent things going in properly. Not much to go at unfortunately, but possibly worth a try.Al

Hi Alan,Well I have tried all you said. Loaded the Yak-40 into the new installation and it never even showed up in the aircraft selection :(Spent over 9 hours total trying to get this thing to wok and am thoroughly peeved off now. I think Igor has given up too?The strangest thing is that all my PMDG, Wilco, Feelthere, PSS, Carenado, Ariane and Level-D + default work perfectly. Thanks for your help and staying with me on this. It didn't cost that much so, It's less money to lose, I suppose. :( Needless to say, it's still grounded. Shame really, I did like this one.

Dave Taylor gb.png

Damn. That's a real shame, and the low cost is irrelevant, it was your money, so you've every right to be peeved.I won't pretend I've never had any issues with that Yak, because it does occasionally (very rarely) bomb when loading because the VC is so detailed, but generally speaking I don't have issues with it. I'll see if I can think of anything else, and if anything to try does occur to me, I'll PM you, because that's a bummer, and I really don't want that for anyone.Al
