August 3, 200916 yr Hi guys looking for some advice here. I'm currently in the process of looking for part for a new build in the next few weeks or so and I've decide on an i7 920 based machine. However, I cannot decide what video card would be best for me. The two cards that I have chosen are the GTX 275 and GTX 285, both from BFG. The 275 is the OCX edition and the 285 is the new OCFU edition. The clocks on these two cards are as follows:BFG GTX 275 OCX Core: 709MHz, Memory: 2484MHz, Shader: 1566MhzBFG GTX 285 OCFU Core: 712MHz, Memory:2664MHz, Shader: 1620MHzI will be running a Dell S2409W 24" monitor at 1920 x 1080 and Flight Simulator X, so what do you guys recommend???Thanks,Ross. August 6, 200916 yr Hi,Being confronted to the same problem, I would ask the question as this :Are the slightly higher clock rates and larger video memory of the GTX 285 worth the 100

August 19, 200916 yr I would highly suggest you look at the 285 if you are overclocking. That will be my next upgrade. Scott KGPI
August 19, 200916 yr helloif you buy the 275 you will always be wondering , what if i had bought the 285 what would my performance be like?It will eventually drive you mad and you will run out and buy an ATI card.Only Joking :-)
August 20, 200916 yr Honestly there's not that much of a difference between the two cards. I paid $340 for my GTX 285 back in February and am finding I don't game enough to justify the purchase. I wanted something that could run any game on my 1080P plasma tv at full quality with AA & AF (where applicable) and I got it, but found I don't need it after all. A GTX 275 for $100 less would be a much more reasonable purchase. 90+% of the performance for 70% of the price.
August 20, 200916 yr Thanks for your answers, although there are still pro's and con's buying a GTX 275 or 285.I checked the technical specs for both cards, and I found the following frequencies :Frequency (MHz) 285 275Chipset 648 633Video memory 1242 1134Shaders 1476 1404Are any of these frequencies cause a bottleneck when matched with a Core i7 at, say 3.6 GHz and a resolution 1680 x 1050 ?Will the 10% difference between the two be detectable ?Alain
