Radar Contact delay in response, is it normal ?

Featured Replies

Hello,When i press a key for menu select, it takes approx 2 to 5 seconds to actually "enter" the selected option so i hear the request. When i press "7" to acknowledge for sample, the response is not immediate (as it is in FSX ATC) but there is a delay of 2 - 5 seconds. This is a bit frustrating as it slow all the process to my opinion. Is it normal behaviour for RC4 or not ?Is there a way to have "immediate" response from input like in FSX ATC ?Thank youComma

do you have "display text" checked? if so, turn it off.if you are running ASA, with an option called DCW or CDW or DWC or some combination of letters, get the latest ASA update from the ASA folks.if neither helps, make a log, and send it to me. details pinned to the top of the forumjd

You need to turn off the DWC (direct wind control) in ASA.
or get the update from the asa site. i believe it fixes the problem. thanks for acronym translation. i think i can remember it.jd

No John, it doesn't.... :(Turn DWC off if you don't want delays in RC, that's the only solution so far.

i thought that was fixed. i stand corrected.jd

Yeah, that's the word I got direct from JS. The DWC will probably never work in FSX, he said. We'll let you slide on this one, this time John (wink) :(

might be nice if the "feature" was disabled in fsx, so i don't get all the support headaches about it.jd

Hello,Not using ASA.Anyway removing "Display Text" and using "Autoreply" did improved the experience.Thank you for support.PS : I know this is a FSUIPC related question but is there a way to change the BACKGROUND color of the FSUIPC message window ? Not the font, the background (essentially to remove alpha transparency for crisper visibility of text) ?PS2 : Is there a way to know if we are in "comm by copilot" mode or not ? It seems i can't get it to work (copilot comm handling), i always have to press keys to contact / acknowledge, etc even after pressing assigned key for mode.Comma

Pressing C/S K (cntrl/shift and K at the same time) is the default key combo for handing comms off to Otto. You should hear your voice say something like "your comm" and Otto replying "got it". C/S K again should return the comms to you. You should hear Otto say "your comm" and your selected voice say "mine".Yes, some note that says not to use DWC in FSX would have been nice. Or better yet like you say, just disable the dang thing. I fought it for weeks.

pete's been hanging out in the forum the last couple of weeks. maybe he can answer the first question.ctrl-shift-k might be being used by another add-on, and i may never see it. if you press ctrl-shift-k and the dialog is "your comms", "got it" then the co-pilot has the comms. if you press ctrl-shift-k and you hear "my comms", "yours", then you have the commsjd

SAme as with any of the FS windows. Undock it. Size it. Move it where you want. Save the flight so it comes back that way on reload. The only other way is to use "ShowText", which is a separate program -- no good if you use FS in full screen mode, but great over a WideFS network.RegardsPete

I find using white text in the RC mini-window gives text with more clarity. After backing up FSUIPC.ini add to the general section using notepad:WhiteMessages=Yes
