August 7, 200916 yr I have recently had to completely reinstall FS9 and I think I would like to find new ground textures. I have been using the original Ground Enviroment from Flight1 not the Pro either. Anyway I was looking for some suggestions on what I could get and what some opinions. Thanks Andrew
August 7, 200916 yr Agreed, I haven't come across anything better or more inclusive then GEPro. I'm not completely sure but I believe GE and GEPro basically have the same textures. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
August 9, 200916 yr Author Thats all? I have my reservations since it costs 50 dollars. I have the original and it's the same textures. Andrew
August 9, 200916 yr Thats all? I have my reservations since it costs 50 dollars. I have the original and it's the same textures.GEPro has the ability to lighten or darken it's textures (you create a bunch of textures when you first install the program) to suit the overhead sky conditions, there's 'Sky Clear', 'Scattered', 'Mostly Cloudy' and 'Overcast', with as many variations of each as you'd like to create. If you have Active Sky you can interface directly with GEPRO to select the 'correct' textures to suit the current sky conditions automatically.I started with GE and moved to GEPro pretty quickly as I was so impressed with the original GE. When I upgraded there was a discount that completely took the price of GE away from the price of GEPro, not sure if it's still available, but GEPro is worth every cent that I paid for it.Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. August 10, 200916 yr Commercial Member BirdsEyeView is another option and in some cases I like them better than GE Pro. The FS Pilot Shop had them all on sale for $6.00 USD per season over the 4th of July. I bought all 5 seasons for $30 bucks, but at the regular price of $60 USD for all five, GE Pro is a better deal by far. You could just buy the "summer" set though for $12 and see if you like them.I don't use BEV regurlarly, I use GE Pro instead except I don't like the rock textures (I live in an area surrounded by rocky alpine mountains, they need to look right). For that matter I like BEV's rock textures even less. I've spent most of the afternoon porting textures over from FSX (and oddly enough it made FS9 look just like FSX - desert everywhere. ...and here I always thought it was a landclass issue :( ). Anyway, I went back to the GE Pro textures except I kept the FSX rock textures which I like better than anything else I've tried so far. Still looking though...Incidentally, FSX .agn files crash FS9 :( Jim
August 18, 200916 yr Author I have been checking some things out and I installed Real Enviroment Pro. I am not sure if it includes ground textures but the sky and water look amazing. Andrew

August 18, 200916 yr nope, no ground textures in REPro. No sky textures in GEPro. :)I don't know about that. I just opened my GEP and I wonder what the Sky Color Tab is for?
August 18, 200916 yr I don't know about that. I just opened my GEP and I wonder what the Sky Color Tab is for?As I'm sure you know, ( :( ), GEPro also has sky textures to suit the prevailing weather conditions generated by ActiveSky. Can't remember the last time I flew without both of these, with FE clouds.Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?
August 19, 200916 yr I don't know about that. I just opened my GEP and I wonder what the Sky Color Tab is for?lol, oh heck yah you're right! Haha, I've been using the textures for eons now and hadn't actually started the program up in a long time. I forgot it has sky textures too... :(
August 19, 200916 yr A while ago I reinstalled fs. Prior to that I had some lovely freeware ground textures, but foolishly lost them in the reinstall. Now I cant find them anywhere on the net, but I'm pretty sure they were called 'MyTextures' or somesuch..... About 25mb download so coverage was pretty good.
