Non-VATSIM/IVAO Multiplayer

Featured Replies

Does anyone else do non-VATSIM/IVAO multi-player FS using FSHostSpy to see which servers are broadcasting? It seems if more people knew about it, there would be more players involved. I, for one, don't feel comfortable with VATSIM regardless of how eager they are for new users to learn the ways of the force. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but who still wants to share their flying experience with others.Using the FSHostSpy method, I've been able to connect to multiplayer with 8-10 other users around the world and still use tools like AS6, RC4 and FSBuild for flight planning. The only weirdness I've noticed is that everyone defaults to the same bird I'm flying if they are flying something custom that I don't have installed.

I understand how you feel. I don't feel comfortable flying on vatsim either. I never tried what you have though.

well,be it IVAO or VATSIM,no need to be nervous about it,both entities focus on the fun part, not the weflyforalmostrealsosticktotherulesorwewilltakeyourplane down attitude.

FSHostSpy basically just locates all the multi-player servers using FSHost from Chocolate Software.http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshostspy/It's a relatively small community, but I'm sure with some push from AVSim forums folks, it could grow exponentially.

Yeah.. but all it takes is being an observer for an hour watching FTW CTR to realize how little I really know about basic ATC communications and how serious some of the folks are about using VATSIM. I've been spoiled by RC4 and PFE, I guess. Anyway, one day I might try it beyond just having an account and watching over the controllers shoulder.

No I love vatsim...sorry but you should give it a try...talking real comms, emergencies, ATC from all around the world, it's pretty good. You should fly not just listen to ATC, that's boring.Get "vatspy" and see how many are playing, many virtual airlines even virtual militray organisations use it.It just lightens the experience...but may get boring if you play too much

"Boring" is a relative term. If I were bored, I wouldn't be involved in FS at all. In any event, Vatsim just isn't for me.. so I'm recommending to those others who are like me an alternative. One of the servers I hang out on: http://www.fsmultiplayer.com/

Did you know that you can use Vatsim and not have to speak to ATC?If you fly VFR in uncontrolled airspace you don't have to contact anyone.I flew with a group of 6 thru the Grand Canyon..it was a blast.

How is that any different than using FSHost to do the same thing?
