August 28, 200916 yr You've mentioned this helicopter before in your posts. I bought it today. Looking forward to "getting it started". Ctrl E doesn't do it for me. Guess I'll have to find the checklist somewhere and follow it. Seems since I got my new computer and new FSX installation, everything works phenomenally well and fast! However, I am finding more of my old addon payware planes start "cold and dark" or I have great difficulty starting. Case in point the Eclipse jet! I seem to be having a hard time finding the right combination to get her started. It never was that way before. If there's a trick to getting all your planes started at default, I'd like to know that. There are times when I want to go through it all, and times when I don't. 90% of my plane stable is fine, and they all seem to start without any great difficulty.Looks like a great rotorcraft....let you know how I like it when I finally get her started.StanAll started...took a little time and got everything started. The 412 is a little difficult to safely land. Gotta practice.Stan

If you want to start it really quick just switch on both battery switches, then both inverters, then turn on all the fuel feed switches, then click the starter switch to the left. Once that engine starts, click the start switch to the right. Once both engines are on turn on both generators. Make sure to switch the starter switch back to nuetral otherwise when you close the fuel valves to shut down which ever direction the starter switch is leaning will try to start that engine again. Thats about it for a quick and dirty start, a little different from procedures, buit sometimes I just want to get in and go, lol.BTW Stan, do you have rudder pedals? If not I would recommed that you get some, especially for helo flying. When I was on FS9 I didn't have any, then I got a set and what a difference. I could barely fly helos in FS9 by trying to use the keyboard for rudder control. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

However, I'm really in love with my Microsoft FF2 joystick using Russell Dirks' software for FF.Stanps. Thanks for the reply. I'll follow your technique.

There is also a link to Dodosim http://www.dodosim.com/index.htmlwho recently sold their Bell 206B which requires proper startup procedures like the real thing. If you goof anything up you run the risk of destroying the engine. Dodosim 206 will expel flames and smoke if you have a startup emergency. The graphics are pretty compelling. And of course without force trim you must fly with a little arm effort. I lot of real-life components of rotary wing flight are not provided by FSX models. However Dodosim adds a lot of these conditions. Keith Guillory
