August 28, 200916 yr I've recently noticed that some ATIS frequencies in Australia are beyond the Comm radio settings. The standard settings range from 118.00 - 136.00 while the ATIS at Alice Springs (YBAS) is 115.9 and Darwin (YPDN) is 112.6. Is there any way to access these freqs. so as to obtain the latest weather and landing info while in flight? Thanks for any help.Jim D.
August 28, 200916 yr Those frequencies are for VORs at those locations, where are you getting your info from?Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 28, 200916 yr Author Hi,YBAS does not have ATIS service and neither does YPDN in FS04.Thanks, Those frequencies are for VORs at those locations, where are you getting your info from?JoeWell, according to the charts those are ATIS freqs. Here are the links: http://www.airservices.gov.au/publications...PDNVO01-119.pdf http://www.airservices.gov.au/publications...BASDG01-119.pdfI suppose I could add an ATIS freq. in AFCAD, but not sure it would work. But, then again, not as real as it gets.Jim D.
August 28, 200916 yr Side note...Wow, maybe I haven't looked hard enough but the listing for the Aerodrome & Procedure Charts for OZ is buried now. I've had the link for years and it hasn't changed, it's still there, but I can't seem to find it in the ASA's web interface. That is, at least it's not being advertised easily anymore. Interesting...Mark
August 29, 200916 yr I see by looking at the charts those frequencies are also for the VORs. VORs transmit a Morse Code identifier, maybe the Aussies have replaced that with ATIS.Either way I am not sure you can set that up in FS9 because, as you said, that is out of the COMM range.Keep us posted if you can get it to work.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

Besides, COMM freq. range isn't sufficient.Oh well, thought I'd put it our there to see if there was a possibility. I will get the info I need from Active Sky and ATC.Jim D.

Australia says this: 2.7.1 At aerodromes specified in ERSA the normal operationalinformation required by aircraft prior to take‐off or landing isbroadcast automatically and continuously either on a discretefrequency or on the voice channel of one or more radionavigationaids. The broadcast may be pre‐recorded or computerised.FS doesn't provide for other than the identification morse code on the radio navaids.scott s..
August 29, 200916 yr Is there any way to access these freqs. so as to obtain the latest weather and landing info while in flight?jim:collect AFCAD and add an ATIS feq within the range FS will allow. yes, may be 'fake', but you can get weather information.easy to do ... i did the same for 1G0 (wood county airport, bowling green, OH), when adding taxiways, parking areas, and a control tower that more closely matched the real-world layout.-- D. August 29, 200916 yr As a side note some VORs in the US also transmit weather info. I don't know of any that support a full ATIS but for sure there are some that broadcast AWOS. R-
