DirectX and dll problems

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, of course, I bought the new FS2Crew right away, downloaded and installed it. My problem is, although I downloaded the NET 3.5, the Speech Rec 5.1 and the March DirectX and installed everything properly and even rebooted, when I start the Main Panel I got the "Could not load the FS2Audio.dll with error code 0x7e. Be sure the FS2Audio.dll is at /system32 ". In fact, the FS2Audio.dll IS at system32!! So I suppose the problem has to do with the DirectX as stated in the FAQs. I unpacked the March redistributable at Windows/system32/DirectX file where all the others cabs are also installed. At dxdiag I get at the DirectX version 9.0c 4.09.0000.0904. At the configuration panel I get that no headset is indentified even though I tried two of them, one normal the other USB. Still, the programm seems to recognize what I say, I see my words in the green and the FO does the Preflight flows as I get the star after a while. So, what is going wrong, any help please?? itifonhom

Hi,Do you hear any sounds?Regarding the Headset dialog box on the Config Screen:It won't specifically point to your Headset. It will list all audio devices on your computer. You need to select the device associated with the desired headset. Not that this is optional. You only need to do this if you have a headset and want to use it, otherwise the sounds can come through your main speakers.Regarding the missing DLL message: Try re-installing Direct X again (March 2009 or later) and rebooting your computer.During beta testing, a couple users experienced the same issue, and they didn't have the latest DirectX installed. Installing the latest DirectX fixed it for them.Cheers,

Hi Bryan, thank you for the, as always, excellent support. I'm at work at the moment and I can't really do anything to fix the problem but I will as soon as I'll get back home later today. The fact is, that I get no devices listed in the window, although I got a sound card installed and working and, just to test, an USB headset. I thought that this had to do with the missing dll. I got some sounds of the preflight events but heard no single voice. As installing the DirectX, just to be sure I'm not doing anything wrong, it's just unpacking the cab files into Windows/system32/DirectX folder, is this right? Do I have to do anything further, is there any other DirectX related installs I got to perform? I'm sure it's going to work and it'll be wonderfull, thanks again, itifonhom.

Ahhh, I think that's the problem. After you download the latest Direct X, it will ask you where you want to extract the files to.Extract them to any temp folder on your desktop. When done, open the temp folder and run this EXE located in your temp folder:DXSETUP.EXEThat will install the latest DirectX.Cheers,

Hi Trevor, I got Win XP and I can see that the FS2Audio.dll is actually there, just the programm doesn't see it. I can find the .dll in /Windows/system32 folder. Take a look in there, although I'm not sure how your Windows are structured. itifonhom

Hi Trevor,I'm using Window 7 64 Bit, too.You need to download and install the latest March 2009 or later DirectX.Trust me :-)We're using the XACT sound engine, and you need the latest Direct X as everything is interconnected.During beta testing, some users would report the missing DLL issue as described above. The fix was always to install the latest version of Direct X.Cheers,

I just can't wait to get home, just 1,5 hours work now!! I'm sure it's gonna work and I know I'm gonna love it!! The only problem now seems to be how to persuade my wife I'm not nuts!! Already yesterday, while training my speech rec profile she kindly asked me if I'm ok..... itifonhom

Ok, here's the latest news: I installed DirectX properly and problem solved! Everything's ok now, although I haven't tried a whole flight yet, just the preflight and before start checklists. Today afternoon, after a short sleep, I'll try to get through the programm. Thanks Bryan!! Only the problem with me talking alone in my room remains, any tipps?? itifonhom
