September 5, 200916 yr Help on the way... but need more information.Start to operate the FMS: This means you turned it on, what did you see and do between then and FSX stopping? Dan Downs KCRP
September 6, 200916 yr Hi Dan, I am having the same trouble with the tutorial flight. Everything is fine till until I try to activate the tutorial flight plan. FSX freezes and I have to use the task manager to get back to the desktop. Then when I try to reload the tutorial after restarting FSX. The aircraft does not load up the tutorial aircraft state correctly and none of the displays work when turning on the master avionics switch. Only after a reboot of the computer does the tutorial load correctly again. Christopher Veltri (CYQT)
September 6, 200916 yr Author As mentioned above, I turned the FMS on press 3 times enter - and it freezes... everytimeThanksOfer S. Ofer S. My System Specs: Intel Core i5 2.72 GHz | 8 Gig Ram | MS 7 64 Bit | ATI HD5770 | One good moto - Always look on the bright side
September 6, 200916 yr Ofer, Just to be clear here, you can turn the FMS on, and it doesn't freeze, but when you press enter three time to advance through the initialization and to the flight plan list page, it crashes? (You mention pressing enter three times, I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly) Do you have any other flight plans installed? If so, could you try removing all of those except for the tutorial flight plan and seeing if you can advance? Just cut and paste them somewhere else. I have no idea if they could affect things, but it's worth ruling out. Also, do you get any error messages, or does FSX just crash to the desktop without an error popping up?
September 6, 200916 yr Hi Mike, I'm sure Ofer and I are having the same problem. The FMS turns on fine. I hit enter three times to get to the active flightplan list. Clicking on the little arrow to load the KHPN-KIAD flight plan results in FSX freezing and the only way to get out of FSX is to Control-Alt-Delete. I have tried to reinstall the J41 3 times with no luck. No other flightplans in the folder other then the tutorial one. Also, no error message just a complete FSX freeze up. Christopher Veltri (CYQT)
September 6, 200916 yr Author Hi,Nope, I do'nt haVe any FP, the only fp I can see is KHPN-KIAD.Indeed, FSX freezes after I press enter 3 times.. afterwards, nothing happens, everthing is going back to ice age..I don't have any popup, I have to close FSX through Windows control manager. Thanks!Ofer S. September 6, 200916 yr Christopher,Have you tried manually entering the flight plan, or can you not make it off that page?Ofer,Do you get to the same point as Christopher? It freezes when you press the button to load the flight plan, or it freezes when you press enter the third time?
September 6, 200916 yr Hi Mike, Won't even let me manually enter the flight plan. Same thing occurs. FSX freeze as soon as the enter key is pressed. Even when I try to enter KHPN manually. Christopher Veltri (CYQT)
September 6, 200916 yr Author Hi Mike,I've sexactly the same problem as Christopher.Thanks. Ofer S. My System Specs: Intel Core i5 2.72 GHz | 8 Gig Ram | MS 7 64 Bit | ATI HD5770 | One good moto - Always look on the bright side
September 6, 200916 yr Have you guys tried removing the tutorial flight plan file and seeing if you can enter the FP manually?I thought I asked that earlier, but looking I guess not. I must be more tired than I thought. :(

Does the '1' highlight ? and it freezes when you press ENTER ? or does itfreeze and you don't see the highlight ?Regards.Ernie.
September 7, 200916 yr Hi Ernie, That was the problem I was having. highlighting the number 1 and pressing enter would freeze FSX. For some reason however, after the computer was off for about 8 hours. I loaded up the tutorial this morning and the FMC didn't freeze anymore. I was able to complete the tutorial flight without problems. I have also tried a number of flights with saved flight plans and the FMC is still working. I have no idea why it started working, but i'm sure glad in my case it did. Christopher Veltri (CYQT)
