TrackIR 5 or VRInsight HatTrack?

Featured Replies

I know, TrackIR is the "Rolls Royce", but VRInsights HatTrack costs only 50% of it, so I'm unsure what to buy. Is HatTrack worse than TrackIR?Andreas

HelloIf you buy the HatTrack, you are destined to ask yourself that very question every time you use it.I have the TrackIR and would have given up on simming if it had not been available.I have not tried the HatTrack, it may be fine. But what can really make a difference with any hardware purchase is Support and driver quality.TrackIR drivers are solid and are continually improved. On support lets see who turns up in this thread first, Naturalpoint Vince or a VRinsight employee.

Third option, for those like me who are cheap and like to tinker:http://www.free-track.netUsing it with a Wii remote can get you results on par with TrackIR.

HelloWhile I agree you can rig up some sort of head movement with Freetrack and a Wii remoteTo say it is on par with TrackIR is totally rubbish.Otherwise all the TrackIR users in this forum (and there are a lot) would have saved our moneyand be using Freetrack.Trust me on this, Money aside TrackIR is by far the better option.

I respect your opinion, but I stand by mine.

Prior to purchasing my TrackIR I went through the same dilemma. The reviews that i read about VRinsight pushed me towards the TrackIR. I believe Flightsim.com and AVSIM are a couple who have reviewed the VRinsight and both reported slow response and VERY limited compatibility. I also, however, play Lock On, Black Shark, IL2, NASCAR Simracing, etc so TrackIR support for those games and the excellent support pushed me towards the TrackIR.IMHO, save your money and buy the TrackIR.Check out GoGamer at http://www.gogamer.com for some bundle deals on the TrackIR 5 including a bundle with Rise of Flight (new WW1 flight sim).
