September 8, 200916 yr Nick,on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the info. for both ATI & Nvidia in the following article...http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1...00-architecturethanks, Tim
September 9, 200916 yr I have to agree with Max on this one.. The Inquirer is a 'RAG' and any information you get from them is typically a combination of fact blended with their own fiction
September 10, 200916 yr Author sorry about the link guys. not really concerned about their credibility or brand of fiction. was only interested in the accuracy or in-accuracy of the data about the 2 cards. thanks in advance for any comments about the data. hopefully this link works...http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1...00-architecture

September 10, 200916 yr What I have found in the industry is you can't believe anything you read. Until the new hardware is actually reviewed by good/decent review sites you can't believe jack about "rumors."Just look at AMD's Phenom I chips that were touted as the next FX chips. Yeah.....they aren't. As for DX11, ATI of course has a leg up since they assisted MS with DX10 (DX11 is simply features that didn't make DX10) while Nvidia acted like little kids. But DX11 won't really help out the FSX community since the engine cannot be patched to utilize DX11. In short don't believe any rag or rumor mill until the hardware is in someones hands.
September 10, 200916 yr I've only had a brief look at the DX11 preview docs, and I'll tell you one thing it has more to do with the multi-core and unlocking the power already available in the current GPU architecture. ie if you have shaders you'll benefit. My guess any 8800+ card will do that and you probably won't need any new hardware if you're already DX10 compliant. I noticed DX11 is finally available from Microsoft but I haven't had a chance to look around the latest docs...Anyways hope that helps... might explain why Nvidia decided not to label its upcoming cards "DX11".
September 11, 200916 yr Author thanks for the info. guys. it would be nice if DX11 helped improve performance in FSX with the right hardware.happy flyin, fm
September 11, 200916 yr IIRC DX11 is shipped with windows 7 and is available as an update to vista....
