September 10, 200916 yr Guys l`ve tried soo many times to fly this aircraft and its driving me nuts.. l can start this aircraft up with no problems, then some days l start the engine it goes up then nothing. it doesnt click in ready to start the next engine. l`ve check to make sure it l have all the switch in the right direction but it just doesnt want to start.l`ve had a few flights with no problems now all of a sudden l`m having problems with starting the engine hehehe.l have a lot of respect for PMDG but l must be missing something, what could it be.anyone had this same problem, l`m sure l`m missing something. l`ve always started this with a cold and dark cockpit. when l get things ready fmc ect.. and ready to start engine 1 fuel ready, click over to engine 1 and the click on start, the revs goes up to l dont know around 600 then you surpose to hear a clickand then switch on the gen. then start the same for engine 2, but engine 1 stays 600 but doesnt want to come down.anyway l`m looking at leaving this till service pack comes out, unless someone can help me..Many Thanks inadvancePaul :(

September 10, 200916 yr Author Are your fuel pumps on? Are the start locks engaged?l know how to release them but how to you reenable them?thanks bud
September 10, 200916 yr And you have of course checked this thread out: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=259645A tricky thing for me was that the props often was feathered when I loaded the aircraft cold & dark. To be able to start the engines the props must be in start lock position (unfeather switch on the pedestal). After a minute or so the props will go back to feathered. Fooled me a couple of times. Here is the advice i read in some other thread (sorry but i didn't remember the posters name - thanks anyway): Start locks on props engaged (you visually confirm this). Condition lever in Taxi. Power lever in ground start zone - press F2 until reverse lights up then F3 until reverse unlights. Verify fuel pumps on Switch to ground start and press start button.
September 10, 200916 yr Remember to un feather the props before start! I usually start the left engine first once its stable I remove the GPU and then turn on the left GEN switch the power selector to GEN, un feather the right prop then start the right engine! works every time for me. September 10, 200916 yr I can pretty much confirm that you can't start the engines because you don't have the start locks engaged.I simulated an engine failure, brought the bird down and tried to restart the engines once I came to a stop. The RPM of the engines never went above 15% and so I remembered that I have to un-feather the props. After doing so, I visually check the the props are in the right place, the engines start without a hitch afterwards. September 10, 200916 yr Author Thats cool HOW do l enable it? also l noticed that l have an elec light on.. l dont think this has anything to do with it.ThxPaul :(

September 10, 200916 yr Author Guys l started the engine, might have been the stop lock Thanks too all of you guysPaul
September 10, 200916 yr Like Rick mentioned, that's almost certainly a feather issue. I have had that happen to me as well, the props start turning but don't actually ignite and they just keep on rotating and you might even see some black smoke occasionally. Make sure you unfeather the props using the switch below the power levers. This is realism at its best!
September 10, 200916 yr G'day Paul,As others have said it was most likely the start locks not being engaged that caused your problem. Glad to hear youv'e got her going.Just to mention another catch is if your EGT's are showing above 200 Deg. Try to start with a hot engine & it's BBQ time again :( Watch for this if you have just shut down the engines & want to get going again. You may have to cool them down before start. Easy enough done but expensive if you don't.Have had this bird since Monday night & haven't even flown her yet! Just spent time learning the systems & the engine operations, setting up my hardware etc. This is one cool airplane. I have it parked at Farnborough (where BAe are I believe) where I'm going through my "conversion". Expect to get her into the air & do some upper air work followed by circuits etc before I fly her back to Oz (time permitting) in stages over the coming weeks. There I'll convert her to Brindabella repaint & fly her around in FTX country.Cheers,Ross Cheers, Ross i910900KF | ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Z590 | ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3070 OC 8Gb | 32Gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200 I Thermaltake Water 3.0 Riing | Samsung SSD 870 1TB GB HD | WIN 10 64 Bit
