September 11, 200916 yr Hello, I downloaded the free trial FSnavigator and thought it was good, but I'm simply not going to pay $40 or whatever it is for it,from what I understand its no longer suported anyway.I was wondering if there is a halfway decent freeware program similar to fsnav, dosent have to be as good just as long as it's better than the pitiful default planner.I have been going to skyvector.com and planning there but it would be nice to do it within the FS lol.
September 13, 200916 yr Try this - http://www.vroute.net/.There is a free and a payware version, the payware adding fuel calcs (but for a limited number of aircraft) and other stuff. Links to free charts and maps of your chosen departure and destination.vRoute only allows you to make realworld and current plans - out of date Airacs and not-currently-used or incorrectly-named waypoints won
September 13, 200916 yr FSNavigator was (is) an excellent tool - those of us who were able to get it registered before support was withdrawn are fortunate indeed. Many now recommend Course Planner as a replacement. You can check it out here: http://www.myoddweb.com/courseplanner/I have not tried it myself as I use FSNavigator. It was well worth the registration fee.
September 13, 200916 yr Excellent, thanks for the responses.I'll try both of them.Super Flight Planner (SFP) is good, though poor documrnted. But it's free! Gerry Howard
September 13, 200916 yr Moderator I would also recommend vRoute. The freeware version is fine if you're not too fussy about up-to-date nav data. But for a modest fee you can upgrade to the Premium version and this includes fuel calculations. There are thousands of plans in their database and support is good. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 14, 200916 yr FS Build 2.2 is my primary flight planner based on what's found on flightaware.com. Combine that with RC4 and AS6 and you have yourself a comprehensive flight experience.
